Yes! As long as it is done legally. I don't find it fair for what I've been through and still am going through to be here from Canada when I look at the amount of illegals around here. It's not fair! And why does immigration still give you problems when you go about it legally? That I don't get. I'm totally against illegal immigrants. I strongly believe they have no right to be in this country unless they do it right. But there is an exception. If your life is in danger, other than that, they should be all sent back. Most of what I've seen, the 2 1/2 years I've been in CA, is they come here illegally and want to take over. They have no respect for example burning the American flag. I find that very disrespectful! They should be happy to be here. I am. I came here to marry my husband who is American. We are broke mainly due to immigration. All our money went to getting me here. We are still not done. The next step is to get my condition off my permanent residency, so I can be permanent permanent. That's going to cost almost $300 or I will be sent back. We want to have children, but we are totally broke. I'm running out of time at my age. If we have to go through this, they should, if not immigration should refund us back all the money we have paid! Our savings is gone. Another thing that burns me, is when I apply for jobs out here, they want you to bilingual in English and Spanish. Why should I be when most (not all) the Spanish speaking here can't speak English? They are working here and I can not communicate w/ them because I can't speak their language. How do they get jobs not able to speak English? I have the education, just because I am not bilingual? Back home, I understand when they want you to be bilingual in English and French. Because Canada is English and French. America is English. Why do you have to be bilingual to get a good job?

Hello. I am for a smaller set number of LEGAL immigrants to enter into the country. I would reduce the influx we've been dealing with for a very long time way down... maybe more than 50%... and maybe more for certain countries. The very first requirement is that they must have a clean record (i.e. no criminal history), absolutely MUST speak english conversationally, and they must have no communicable diseases whatsoever. I think for those who would fit into this group should be allowed in within a set limitation of time. Usually those who do come into this country get no taxation for a number of years and get welfare for a set time also. I would change the taxation immediately, and if they want to be here they MUST pay taxes like any other American. I'd give them welfare for no more than 2-2 1/2 years and that would be it... depending on how many dependents. So I'd be much more restrictive and limiting had I the power. That's my honest thought.

For all those who like to harp about the Indians (so called native Americans) being the only true Americans, here are a couple of things to think about. First of all, their ancestors immigrated here just like ours; from Asia. Read your history books. Regardless of my heritage, I am just as Native American as they are. The only difference between us is that I actually pay my taxes. I don't live as a welfare case trying to get everybody to feel sorry for me. I have no problem with anybody coming to this country, but do it legally. I have been in 9 different countries; all legally. I have lived in 2 foreign countries (I am living in one now), but I moved to both legally. If you can't come here legally, and obey the laws when you get here, we don't want you. Get the crap out of our country. NOW!!!!!!!!!

Right after all native born (and I don't mean "anchor babies", who as accessories to a felony, illegal immigration, don't count) Americans have a decent job (one that pays the rent, for food, allows them to have kids), health care, education for their children and their own home. We have vets living under bridges on hand outs, I don't buy the need of immigration, especially unskilled/uneducated labor, (that is why we have a teacher's union with "tenure" in our schools to supply).

As long as they file all the papers and have regard for our laws and customs, why not? Everyone in the United States is an immigrant, save those of Native American descent.

Ones with skills needed by our country in limited numbers that will allow our schools and services to recover? Sure.

I am torn between a temporary moratorium on immigration, or welcoming them as our ancestors did. But either way if you are here illegally, go home. If you want to come and follow the protocol of becoming a U.S. citizen, learn our ways and our language......... Welcome.
