Jesus claimed to be God. He forgave people's sins, an action attributable only to God.

Concerning the humility of Jesus, the following passage is in order...

Philippians 2:5-7 (New International Version)

5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.

And good servants are humble!

If you strip away the Old Testament and St Paul's constructs, and unmake the poilitical choices made at the Council of Nicaea as to what gospels to include, I think we are left with much less emphasis on THE son of God. He was promoting a message of love, not a personality cult, (which is what it was built into.) And surely humility was at the root of the message.

During His trial before the Jewish leaders, the High Priest demanded of Jesus, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God" (Matthew 26:63). Jesus responded, “Yes, it is as you say, ‘but I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven” (Matthew 26:64). The Jewish leaders responded by accusing Jesus of blasphemy (Matthew 26:65-66). Later, before Pontius Pilate, “The Jews insisted, ‘We have a law, and according to that law He must die, because He claimed to be the Son of God’” (John 19:7). Why would claiming to be the “Son of God” be considered blasphemy and be worthy of a death sentence? The Jewish leaders understood exactly what Jesus meant by the phrase “Son of God.” To be the “Son of God” is to be of the same nature as God. The “Son of God” is “of God.” The claim to be of the same nature as God, to in fact “be God,” was blasphemy to the Jewish leaders; therefore, they demanded Jesus’ death. Hebrews 1:3 expresses this very clearly, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being…”

Because He was God and there is no Pride or any Bad in God.
Christians are Children of God and heirs with Him.
Though we are taught to be humble, you cannot really suppress mans pride until, ... ... when you really know the True Living God, even to know how awesome He is...... is Humbling.

One answer is John 10:10 and 11
The thief comes not, but for to steal and to kill, and to destroy;
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
I am the Good Shepherd; the Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

Christ remained humble because He loves us so much. He knew to save us He had to suffer on that Cross and He loved us so much that He took no thought of Himself. That is true love.

No greater love has any man than he lay down his life for a friend.

Because he was the son of God he was humble.HE knew who was and he knew what his mission on this earth was.To be a braggart was to no purpose. He preached who he was by word and by deed. He had no sin.Boasting is a sin.By his very humbleness he set an example for us. Remember he asked that this be passed from me, He knew what was to come but still he knew what had to be done.

Pride is a failing, a flaw. It's the result of delusion. You'd think a supreme being might have a good excuse for pride, but you'd be mistaken. It simply would not ocurr to a supreme being to feel pride, when there are no other supreme beings in the neighborhood to take notice and be crestfallen by it. We are all children of God, so in truth, we're in a similar position. No one to look down on. Hello, radiant being of light.

Jesus used his talents to help people, he promoted himself but I'm sure he didn't care. Why can't more Christians be like their Christ?
