I mean today in a time of scientific explanations...we as a whole would be pretty freaked out by a man coming back from the dead...3 DAYS LATER. It seems to me, back then people would have thought him "evil"...practicing some king of magic instead of a miracle???
If it happened today...would people follow blindly or would science crucify him yet again???

Well I'll just apologize right now...20 some minutes later...aparently I asked a question that had very little validity to it. I suppose I was meaning how did these people who had basically no science and only belief....look to this man as God's one true son....couldn't it have all gone the other way??? And they saw him as evil...something coming back from the dead when nothing should???

First, we obviously don't have the whole record of what went on 2000 years ago. Mary was overcome with joy when she saw and recognized the Lord in the garden. The apostles were in awe when He showed up in the room. Thomas refused to believe until he saw for himself. When he did see for himself, he was appropriately apologetic and received a rebuke from Jesus. Blessed are those that believe and have not seen.
We don't know the general public response. I tend to believe that people were perhaps more religious minded when they didn't have the scientific sophistry to blind their faith.
Today, people would be very skeptical, disbelieving and perhaps even hostile.

Calmly...
Hardened Roman soldiers fainting with fear...
Official inquiries into the events surrounding one Jesus of Nazareth, going all the way to Rome...
Religious leaders lying through their teeth in an effort to quiet the people...
Disciples changing from timid, fearful people hiding away in upper rooms to bold announcers of the Gospel...
Thousands converted at each telling of the facts by the Apostles...

Who said anyone handled it calmly? The Resurrection is the most thoroughly documented event in human history. Science is powerless in the face of it.

Science would definatley crucify Him again.

There's a prophecy that will happen just before Christ's coming... two deciples will be killed and lay in the streets for 3 days and be risen. It's going to cause quite a shock and science will denounce it as some hoax.

You know, Jesus had told his disciples he would rise again on the 3rd day, but I really don't think they understood it at that time. Perhaps sometime later it did hit them that hey, he told us ahead of time this was going to happen.
You know when Jesus was walking on the road after being resurrected and met 2 other men they walked 7 miles talking and after Jesus showed them his hands and feet, they finally realized it was Jesus. They did not know it was him at first,
and their joy overcame them and they walked 7 miles back and told everyone that Jesus had arose! Do you think we would do that today? Can't even get people to walk around the block for exercise, much less 7 miles and then 7 miles back!

Don't forget that the Bible isn't detailed like a novel. Some were probably really excited who followed Jesus and were not calm at all.

I guess if you see someone who does things like he did, you would see that it is only for good and would consider it a miracle. If he caused harm then he would have been treated differently.

Who says they handled it calmly? All we have are accounts of the event written years later. Who knows what really happened? There wouldn't be a whole lot of purpose in including peoples' hysteria in the Bible.

That and it never happened. But really, how much info does anyone have on the supposed event? Only the biased version presented in the Bible.

That's what faith is all about - believing this to be truth. If you try to rationalize things that do not have an explanation, everything would look like a hoax. Scientists are constantly trying to refute our beliefs with regard to God, Jesus and our miracles. We must just simply BELIEVE and have FAITH!

I find this holiday not so calming, a guy on a bike crashed with three autos, and my roll call got busted off the sight saying it was bad in some way wrong of having a roll call, so I guess we do not even have a right to breath, walk, roll or any of the better words any more, only what a computer and someone Else's life style tell us to do.

Calmly? Let's see... the local government put a millitary contengent arround his tomb to make sure it couldn't be lied about, one of his friends jumped off a boat to swim across a lake and meet him, another of his friends refused to believe it, the women who went to view the tomb fainted when they saw the angels. Oh, I see what you mean by calmly!

Nononononono... they weren't calm, they were excited.

It would be widely denied just like it was back then. The Bible shows that those who were members of the inner circle, even though He had told them it was going to happen many times, were still awe struck... Jim
