I am not the slightest religious nor spiritualist, but must admit to being superstitious, for instance , Friday 13th.walking under ladders, looking at a new moon through a window, and more. when I think to myself, this is utter nonesense, something inside me say's better not to tempt providence. how do you deal with this complex?

Since you are that superstitious, it is a wonder you haven't been hooked in by religion.

Not walking under ladders makes sense, as there are actual things that can go wrong such as the ladder collapsing, being covered by paint/tools etc. Some superstitions are based on factual evidence and commonsense. Some, like looking at a new moon through a window (never heard of that one before) aren't, unless it's an invention by parents to make their kids get some fresh air.

Ultimately, if you DO these things you "aren't supposed to", you will either prove them right or wrong. Either way you will have rid yourself of the superstitiions.

I think all of us (Christian or not) have had some of this in our lives. Most of it is taught to us by others when we were kids. Unless it is causing you to change your actions to avoid tempting providence, I wouldn't worry about it to much.

As a Christian, I have the power over this natural world to the extent that God is my protector so I don't worry about such things. Thus, I have no superstitions. (And yes, I know that some believe that Christianity is a superstition)

I should think it is no different than people who know better, still having a fear of flying on a perfectly sound airplane. Even otherwise perfectly rational minds can have irrational fears. If we recognize such fears as irrational, and do not allow them to control us, then we are dealing with them in a healthy manner.

Don't see them a superstitions, understand that 13 is the number of the universe and the new moon has extremely magical connotations, then you have nothing to resist

Being superstitious is the same as being religious. You think you have to do or not do something to keep something bad from happening

Religion is just organized superstition

Put it out of your mind completely otherwise you will be looking for signs and omens everywhere. Next time walk under those ladders and when nothing horrid happens (touch wood) you can reinforce your belief that it's all a load of nonsense!

Just keep thinking it is utter nonsense and it will begin to make sense. How can a number be unlucky? It can't.
