Fibre glass
Rockwool glass
mineral wool with a high performance binder

Any materials will do, either composite or not. I heard they use polyurethene as acoustic materials as well? is it tru?

regular light weight cement blocks are pretty good. the bare surface is micro-porus and soaks in sound. however people usually can't resist the temptation to paint them. paint acts as a membrane, reflecting sound and ruining the absorbtion characteristic.

I've used cardboard egg crates in the past for a home recording studio. Worked remarkable well.
