Dogs die in random places...so do people....it's just the way it works

I'm really sorry this happened. Was this the dog that drank the motor oil? He would've died from toxicity.

The only hope in these cases is to get the dog to a vet for symptomatic treatment. There is no home treatment. Are you sure the nearest emergency vet is that far away??

My condolescenes, but there is simply no possible way to get help from Yahoo Answers in emergency situations. Most likely you will just get misinformed advice that will only make things worse. Better to at least phone the vets for some professional advice if you can't get there in time - at least that way you are assured of quick and helpful advice.

Oh it was cooking oil, sorry. That's more unusual to cause toxicity - I can only assume as it was outside something else had got into it?? The above still applies though.

I'm sorry to hear your dog passed away. I read your former question and I can't say why your dog got sick, only a vet can answer that question. It is unfortunate that emergency vet hospitals are few and far between or you may have been able to get your pet checked and not have to resort to Yahoo for help. I had a dog who was hit by a car and by the time I got him to emergency it was too late. I then looked for a vet closer to my home who would respond to emergency calls even on holidays. Some vets will make an exception to the "we're closed" rule and will drop what they are doing for a seriously ill pet. Hopefully you will find one before you get another dog....shame on your vet for not being there when you needed him most (I'm assuming you called him first).

I am sorry for your loss but mabey your next dog will get the benifit of a vet. I look at the time line you did on this and I can see you had well more that enough time to get it to a vet. What were you waiting for a message for God to get it into the car and get it some help. You are either joking about all of this or you should never be allowed to have another pet. I worry for your children too

From the sounds of your earlier question...the dog was already dying. You wrote a previous question saying that your dog had a vet appointmetn on a friday due to a problem with it's hind legs......I assume it's all connected. Sounds like your poor doggy was sick for a little while and is now free from pain. Sorry for your loss, but now he's not in pain anymore. Give your daughter a hug and bury your pooch.

I just read your previous post about your dog looking ill. Not even an experienced veterinarian could diagnose with any amount of accuracy, what was actually wrong with your dog. More than likely it was probably just your dogs time and there probably wasn't anything a vet could have done other than painlessly euthanize her. There are some things that places like yahoo answers can really help and their are others that you really need to seek the advice of professionals. Sorry about your puppy...

This is the hardest thing to face next to the death of a child. You have to accept that it was the time for this to happen.

I lost two dogs in the same week. One got run over by a car (my fault) and the second died of kidney failure.

So I had to put both dogs down ..in the same week.

You will have to tell your daughter about death and how it is a natural part of life. But don't go into details as she will never understand the reason. I am just sick over the loss of my two pets..and this happened about Christmas...so i got another dog..a shih tzu..its a good dog but nothing can replace the ones we lost...Good Luck..

So sorry to hear of your loss. I think some of the answers are mis understandings.
Here is a poem that may help your family.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

from what happened to your dog, it sounds like there probably wasn't anything a vet could do either. my dog passed away almost the same way at the age of 14. he started shaking and was sick everywhere all of a sudden. we rushed him to the vet, but all they could do was put him down, he had some kind of cancer. i'm sorry you lost your dog, but there isn't anyone on here who is going to be able to tell you why your dog died.

Sorry for your loss of your dog. Did your dog get some of that recalled dog food? That could be why the dog passed away. As far as to it being in your daughters room, that could be because the dog felt more comfortable there.

It sound like you did what you could but it was just his time.
Sometimes thing happen that we have no control over and often, falsely, blame ourselves.
Remember the good times you had together, and when the pain is not quite so hard to bear consider getting another dog to fill your life.

Condolences on your loss.
