iv'e had a chest pain since november. i went to the doctor and they told me i have a condition called costocondritis. he gave me meds and they didn't work. so i went back and got an xray and a ekg both were fine. so he told me to see a cardivovascular specialist. the pain is not that bad. it only hurts when i press on it or when i turn it feels tight. and i only on one side of my chest. the doctor told me that it was not my heart but that i should see a cardiovascular specalist. i really don't want to go, but has any had a problem like this or has had costochondrites?

Costochondites is also known as Tietze's Syndrome. It is a benign cause of chest pain caused by the inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs connect to the cartilage of the sternum.

While it can be painful it isn't life threatening. Having said that....get your butt over to the cardiologist to rule out any other concomitant factors that might be putting your health at risk.

If your doctor told you to go see a cardiologist, then go. Don't mess around with chest pains.
