Hiya Pangel,
You know I'm not a Christian either, but I think there's a line here. It's part of the theology that hatred of Jesus is the work of the Devil. Whatever one may think about Christian history, or even if all one has encountered are negative Christians, there's technically no reason to describe Jesus as "evil", and it's bound to be both upsetting to those who believe he was God or the son of God to hear him described as such, and a natural reaction to think that the person saying such things is being influenced by the Big Bad, because the Devil is the only thing that certain Christians believe truly hates Jesus. So while I don't condone Christians calling anyone evil, I do think that in this case, the questioner brought the reaction upon themselves by not having the objectivity and the courtesy to see that such a comment was both unhelpful and prejudiced. You know, as I know, there are plenty of good, open-minded Christians out there, but to hit them at the core of their belief system will naturally bring a response that is in keeping with their theology - eg that hatred of Jesus comes from the Devil.

I agree we should all be more loving and tolerant and compassionate towards each other but the only way to do that is to connect to your chosen god completely and unconditionally ,which some people find hard to maintain in this violent world of ours. The questions such as how can there be a god when he lets children die of leukaemia in this country or hunger in another place. The universe was conceived in a loving thought but things have a balance. How can you tell a mother who's child is dying that there heart is being opened and cleansed by this experience. I'm a great believer of thoughts (create) as i know that's how the spiritual realm operates. If something is brought into physical reality its because the individual personality wouldn't have been able to reach that point in another way. lesson being don't block disguise or deny your heart confront it . hope this makes sense to you

Pangel, Christians are not perfect and we do lose our cool at times. The question you wrote about was a deliberate one aimed at evoking just the kind of responses and retaliation from the answerers. Having difference of opinions to me is not a problem, I respect your opinions, but purposely provoking and inciting negative responses from answerers is just not acceptable in my books. "You get what you give" and in this case, the person who asked the question actually expected to receive the kinds of rude answers he got!
I would agree with you that we should be more kind and gentle with our words, to turn the other cheek, so to say, but everyone has their own "limits of tolerance" and sad to say, some felt apt to hit back! I don't want to offer any excuses for what has been written but one should never let the words and actions of mere humans, imperfect and in need of God's grace and love, deviate us from looking at who Jesus is.
If we were Muslims, a fatwa would been issued and a reward given for the head of our dear questioner for blasphemy - then, would this response then be more acceptable?

Even the best of men will have their enemies, but to call one of the pillars of Faith evil is to be evil oneself. To get respect you have to give it.
My Mother, a wise woman still, always has said "Be the freind you would always want to have" I believe this applies to Faith as well. Be the type of (insert religious affiliation here) you would want to have. Granted, this leaves a great deal of latitude open but wouldn't it be lovely if people would just be kind to each other? A little kindness goes a long way in making someone's day. Blessings.

I saw this question you speak of and opted not to answer. It was a "set up" as I see it.
Being a Christian, I hope most of you non-Christians out there don't judge every Christian by the likes of those who "claim" to be Christian.
That would be like someone from another country judging every individual living in America because of George Bush's actions.
That's how they see Americans and I don't think that is fair, just as I don't see it fair that you judge the "good" Christian based on those who claim to know Christ, yet seem to have nothing in common with the actions of Christ.

As an evangelical Christian, you're absolutely right and I wish more Christians realized that. Thankfully though, Christians who spew the hatred are in the minority, though you wouldn't realize it by what you read on here and in chatrooms. It's not that they aren't true Christians-they may very well be saved. However, they're misguided. I pray for them and try to help them get back on a Christ centered track.
God tells us to love others as He has loved us, which is unconditionally. That of course doesn't mean condoning sin. It just means to love and pray for the sinner.

Your question is confusing. Did you encounter Christians saying Jesus was evil? That makes no sense to me! Anyone calling Jesus evil surely cannot really be a Christian, as it is part and parcel of Christianity to trust in Him as being good!
As one answerer has already pointed out, anyone who is good generally will be persecuted and called evil. Jesus warned us that this would happen.
Christians love Jesus so much because he was very good, yet carried our evil (imperfection) for us. He took our evil so we could have his goodness.

True.
I think it's more so about the heat of the moment rather than answering the questions. I'm a Christian, but also guilty of this at times. I agree that peaceful dialogue should be the goal.
(Especially if you really want to get your point across)
Just noticed some of your answerers still don't get it.

Jesus is not evil! He is The Son Of God who died for our sins! The only one who is evil is Satan who would like us to turn away from Christ and not have eternal life! If anybody thinks Jesus is evil then they can't be Christians! You are right to think this was rude!

haven't seen question you mention ..... but to call Jesus evil is making mockery of many religions not just christian as christian have been brought up to be tolerant ..turn other cheek ..do unto others which would like done to you ..so to speak .....in other word if you wouldn't like done to you don't do to others ....and having difference of opinion that's their choice as is mine ...its all a matter of faith...but bullying , bombing , mayhem , is not the answer ...can we just agree to disagree sometimes without the mayhem to both christian and others
