There's quite a difference in my pay as opposed to the pay of a contractor. Sure, let's keep voting into congress the greedy people like Kennedy, who've been there forever soaking up the public's money. Did you know that when a congressman/woman retires they don't have to pay any taxes?, that even while they are voting themselves a pay raise that the military pay is still 3% below the poverty line? No matter what they tell you about our pay, it still isn't quite up to par with the public sector. The military still has people on welfare because the pay is so poor. Sure take my pay and give it to KBR etc... you'll find yourself invaded in a heartbeat. Then what? You'll be still out of a job only under the thumb of some tyrant/dictator.

For everyone who answered above me...this guy most likely isn't an American. Saying things about patriotism and loyalty are a waste of time. Just the way he phrased his ignorant question shouts socialist. I would suspect he's Canadian or European, but socialism is all over so who knows. The implication that war is for elitist money further backs my assumption.
Now to the question:
FYI--ALL politicians steal money. Party affiliation simply reveals what they howl about. KBR and Halliburton (and any other government contractors) are simply out to maximize profits--like any other business. That is the nature of Free Enterprise (a basic tenet of Capitalism). I wouldn't expect you to understand.

Because some of us love our country and have nothing but contempt for seditious people, socialists, and those who in their youth think it is "cool" to hate their own country while taking advantage of all the rights and privleges.

You know it is people like you that make me hate the job my husband does. We are have 3 kids and i have to sit here everyday and worry about what is going to happen to him. And then there are people like you who do nothing and are risking nothing for people. I hate the fact that he and his brothers in arms are fighting for stupid people like you. The military people are doing what they are told trying to keep this country safe and to keep all the things happening away from their families. They are doing what they have to. If you don't like it, then take your butt somewhere else. You don't belong in this country.
