She is 16 years old and in the eleventh grade.
When my daughter went to the prom at that age, for me there
was only two rules.
1. I'll drop you all off.
2. I'll pick you all up and take you home after.
Did not have any problems and all the kids had fun.

Well you have to be very trusting in that 16 yr old, because after prom has bad driving, alcohol drinking and well you know what. Prom usually ends at about 12:00am so I figure at that time its past curfew. Get home by at least 1am. Make sure the person they're with is trust worthy and find out if they have any close friends thats going with them, like a best friend or someone of that nature. They can look out for each other and just hope for the best with the rest.

For a first time prom going is supposed to be fun. Go with a best friend and enjoy yourselfs.Most schools have plenty of adult sponsors and set rules that are enforced. If not a best friend available then make sure it is someone that you trust whole heartedly. In our school no one is allowed to leave without signing a book and the time. They also are not allowed back in after leaving so that the parents can track the activiies if they get concerned about the prom. Go and enjoy

No drinking.
No drugs.
No sex.
I don't think you can stop her from making out with her date, but, the above three is most important. If she wants to do the weekend away party that is common, make sure you trust her to make the right judgements. Then, after all that, tell her to enjoy herself, take pictures to share with you later, and ask her if she needs help with her hair, dress, and accessories. Going to the prom as an 11th grader is usually a prestigious thing at school and also stressful for the kid.

Well, when you were 16 did you ever stop and think, "would my mom approve of this"? Probably not. Not saying that you should't give her any rules, it's your duty as a parent. I wasn't allowed to go to my prom because of my behaivor but I know that all of my friends dropped some extacy or got drunk and had sex with their dates. Hopefully you're daughter isn't one of these. Just tell her not to be stupid and hopefully she won't. Or you could always make her wear a chastity belt and tell her that you're takiing her for a drug test the next day.

My parents had my date and I come back to our house after the prom (I think it was by midnight or 1230) and we spent the night in separate rooms in the house. Then my mom cooked a big breakfast for us in the morning. It was nice because my date didn't have to drive home late at night, but both his parents and my parents were reassured that nothing would happen between us. It also took the pressure off of us. :)
If you think your daughter may already be sexually active, please make sure she is protected!

give her at least 1:00 to be home because after prom they like to hang out a little bit......don't try to control everything else because at this age they will do anything they want to do behide their parents back but at least tell her no sex, drinking, and drugs

no drinking, taking drugs of any kind, and only kissing if u really like the guy. (and dont even think about going home with another guy without my (your) permission) that's what i'd do
and the most important rule: have fun! (but not that kind of fun )
