clumping litter is just a preference, but if you want something that doesn't try a eco friendly brand that is recycled news paper. as for food, you can sometimes get it online for cheaper: Evo Blue Buffalo Wellness Solid Gold Castor & Pullox All premium food, but they're a little spendy. Your cat will eat less though, because s/he is getting more nutrients. Friskies, meow mix, purina? Not good. Honestly, if you can buy it at a grocery / target, it's not good for your kitty.

is it actually dog or cat in there? lol they should write a warning on the side of the tin, like all americans do..."WARNING: there may be a bit of Fluffy inside..."

It is food for those animals. Not food made from those animals. Look at baby food. It usually has a picture of a baby on it but the container does not have a baby in it.
