I charge the same as the pub for the drinks

That happened to me too, I invited everyone over for Thanksgiving dinner and told them to bring their own food, no one showed. It was a real bummer.
Seriously though, do you charge them to use the bathroom too?

If you invite them to your house, you should serve them drinks for FREE. That is what a host does! If you cannot afford to supply them with booze, you invite them over and state that the party is BYOB (Bring your own Beverage/Booze).

Anything else is RUDE. Why on earth would anyone want to hang out at your house and fatten your wallet, when they can be at a fun, public place?

That is the reason and I'm surprised you still have friends. Why would you try to make money from your friends?

Some house owners have bars in their home.....have you got one and if so .....dont charge your FRIENDS anything.

Do you pay at their homes? If invited, they would expect you to furnish the drinks unless BYO is specified! ;-)=
