Speaking as a patriot, a veteran and a staunch supporter of the military, I will be honest. I think "freedom" is a potential benefit the Iraqis will derive from this mess. But, the reason we attacked is because of 9/11 and it was about time*. It was long overdue from the time they truck bombed our embassy in Saudi Arabia, or Nigeria, or Kenya, or maybe Lebanon, or when they blew up tons of airliners over the past 40 years. We've been ******* up for 50 years because we didn't want to face the reality that Islamic fanatics have been trying to take over the world since about the 1950s - with the absolute complicity of ALL the Muslim governments in the Arab League and around the world.
We could have prevented 9/11, 30 years ago if we had simply gone to the UN and matter of factly stated that we didn't give a **** how much the fanatics loved their holy book, we aren't going to let them take over the world, period. Maybe banged a shoe on the table Kruschev style. But, instead we tried to hold make-believe peace talks with Arafat for 30+ years, and pretend that none of this religious stuff existed. The United States SUCKS in foreign policy. The sooner we pull our heads out of our asses and start acknowledging the FACT that lots of people around the world don't think like we do, the better off we'll be. But, NO! Instead, we send Jewish Women to broker peace with Islamic fanatics. Like putting out a fire with gasoline.
There will be NO FREEDOM in Iraq or anywhere else we go, until we start recognizing what's going on with the religion.
But, even if we don't do that, we still can't let that stop us from kicking ***...

The United States fought the good fight and are winning against terrorism.
Yes, there are a lot of people who talk about how they hate the war and Bush but that has always been the case with a war time president.
Let Bush have his day. You will see that the Democrats will raise taxes and give out a lot of entitlement. Open the gates to immigrants and put more strain on our economy.
Who cares about the enemy? Iraq is lost already due to the fact that they will never be strong enough to support their own government. That is why our bases will be there in Iraq...just like in Japan and Germany forever...read history..
America is a sick nation but so is the world.
I am glad i won't be around to see the ending of a once great nation. As the citizens have forgot to be loyal to our President..

Dude,
If you wanna make a bunch of comments and leave your opinions thats fine, but do it in a blog not on here. As far as "fighting for freedom" goes....unless you've been to Iraq you don't have a clue about what goes on there. Its really easy to sit back and watch opinion based documentaries and then go on a rant with all your new "knowledge" but that doesn't make it right. I know where you're coming from regarding the indy contractors, but what you don't realize is, there are still thousands of soldiers there trying to make Iraq a better place...just because you don't see it on the news it doesn't mean its not happening.
From now on maybe you should try asking questions that lead to factual answers and not just a bunch of opinions...its not hard to find people to agree with you when you just re-state something that the majority of people already know and agree with.
And just for the record...I've been to Iraq, did my time and did what I could to make it a better place while I was there...that doesn't mean I agree with any of it, but it doesn't mean I'm going to say that nothing good happens there.
As far as saying the U.S. is a "sick" nation....If you don't like it then either do something to change it or go somewhere else....its just that simple. I'm sick of Americans who expect everything to go their way 100% of the time and then get upset when they realize that the government isn't here to cater to their every wish and desire.

Yawn......
Oh sorry, I feel asleep reading the same question an comments that 30 other people asked be for you did. It doesn't make your ill informed rant true....how can you know the truth unless you have actually be to Iraq....I just find it curious that you don't look up the answers other people received to your same set of "claims".
Really, if you want to know what is really going on in Iraq....go there and see for yourself instead of trusting the MEDIA. And you don't have to join the military to go..........

Saddam Hussein killed 300,000 people each year in Iraq. He forced people to vote for him at gun point.
One result of this war has been free elections, and a huge decrease in the death rate even give the terrorists' activities.
That's freedom.

Exactly to the point! Your politicians are selling the country's future so that they and their cronies can borrow against the dying treasury! Credit?? The war on terror appears to be being fought in the wrong country! ;-)=
