They probably will end up updating it at some point in the future, after all history repeats itself and another 1000 years rolls by they might decided to edit the part about Jesus coming back in his own generation. It's a wonder they haven't done it already.

It is so much more entertaining if we don't change it!!! Here are some examples:

Luke 19: 27 (Jesus Talking) But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Isaiah 34: 6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood.

Isaiah 13: 15 Whoever is found will be thrust through, and whoever is caught will fall by the sword. 16 Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be plundered, and their wives ravished.

Proverbs 23: 13 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

2 Kings 6: 28 This woman said to me, "Give up your son; we will eat him today, and we will eay my son tomorrow." 29 So we cooked my son and ate him.

I read and study the bible and search for today application. I have found that the parables and truth about the world is timeless and will continue to span the time until the second coming. There is so much insight into to today that is why it is called the Living Bible.

A few jokes wouldn't go astray...intentional ones I mean, not just the ones about bald men's hair falling out but they're still clean anyway. Oh and the talking ***, now that's a classic, it must stay!

(General religion) Their religion to be conform to modern culture or simple answer, update the bible to modern times to gain & keep followers & to try to keep up on the ever changing world, but they probably won't change it that much.

Some have updated it in their minds already and from the looks of them its best to leave it as it is already. You need not change the truth unless you want to live in a lie.
