though you pay more for branded food is it any better in food value and quality than an own label product.or do you just think it is because you have paid more

Some are and some aren't. Most "store label" brands are produced by name brand companies and they just slap a different label on.

I think most of the own label food is made by a branded food company, with minor adjustments, and a change of label. Some of the own label is just as good, some not, try it out and if you like it, buy more - I don't believe in paying for a 'name' if it isn't necessary. It all comes down to personal taste.

For items like paracetamol and other pharmacuticals the ingredients are pre-set so paying extra for a brand will make no difference (apart from maybe a pschological one).

Food is a bit different and really comes down to individual taste. Beans tend to be the big battle ground when it comes to own lable and branded. I actually prefer the taste of the own lable cheap beans. I think Heinz beans sauce is too thick and sweet.

Bottom line is just try both and pick the one you like.

I'd say 80% of the time I buy store brands. Especially canned veggies. I know that Safeway canned corn is the exact same thing as Del Monte, for example. It all came out of the same processing plant, then get labels later. (True, a friend worked at a processing plant)

But there's nothing like Kraft mac & cheese, Hormel chili, Hamburger Helper, the good stuff.

It depends on the product, Heinz bean for example are not as nice as other brands or even own label, but some cheap and cheerful own brands are awful.

In most items where I have tried both the brand name is by far superior. I'm all about saving money but the majority of the time I buy brand name. My local store has a good brand of it's own and I will buy their pasta and ice cream.

i imagine on smoe belongings you could fairly keep funds via shopping for the ownbrands. i purchase own style kidney beans for chilli con carne , a lot of supermarkets do own style luggage of fruit and veg or maybe such issues as clean mince , morissons do a value variety and the 500g %. is £2.00. in case you hunt round you'll get a fantastic good purchase. some belongings you jst cant get away with the affordable stuff , which contain baked beans and tea luggage ive discovered.

It depends. I would never buy own label ketchup (Heinz only) or cornflakes (Kellogs only) or cola (Diet coke only) but some own brands are just as good or even better than brand names.

I do tend to buy branded goods. But often the supermarkets stuff isn't that different! I wouldn't buy supermarket crisps or coke though! There are some things which you have to have the read version of!
