Any age group can develop skin cancer, including children. Melanoma or other types of skin cancer is rare in children, so there are few statistics available.

Any age. If your parent exposed your fresh new skin alot when you where young, you can develop skin lesions. Go to the Doctor to get them looked at. They can take a biopsy of the worst one then let you know what the case is.
I had this done, I lived at Virginia Beach for 25 years and stayed on the beach so I was prone to this.
Just get checked out for peace of mind. Good Luck.

Cancer, like any other disease, does not know what age is, and therefore we are all at risk. However prolonged exposure to the sun, without proper protection increases the risk of skin cancer.

Depending on how much you sit in the sun and how far south you live, you can get it in your teens. It's a lot more serious then people used to think. Use a heavy sun screen and take care of your skin. Is a good tan worth dying for.

I ran into a woman one time whose 3 month old baby had a large-healed gash in her leg. My 6 year old neice, inappropriately, asked what happened. She was born with melanoma on her shin area and had to have it removed. So, it can strike at any age.
