Sweetie, this is a very "touchy" subject.Sit him down and explain the situation to him.I cannot stress enough, that communication is extremely important in any relationship,in any situation.Sit him down, and say,"I really enjoy your company, and i enjoy the time we get to spend together. However, when you hug me,or hold me it hurts.Your squeeze a little too tight, and you dont know how strong you really are.I care about you a great deal, and i am happy with our relationship but i do like my own space.I do not mind you holding me sometimes, but there are times when i need my space."Tell him what you told us,and explain you are not saying it to hurt him.Odds are,he feels he is protecting you or since he isnt around you all that much that he needs that "physical" aspect of the relationship.Explain your enjoy his company, and you dont want to end your relationship but you are just the type of person that needs their space and not to be "touchy/feely" all the time.He will understand,be open with him about your feelings and your likes and dislikes of the relationship.I am sure he wants you to be happy, and he is just showing his love for you.Hell understand.Good luck hun,and have a good day!!

Tell him that he hurts you when he squeezes you. Tell him that you are the kind of person that likes to keep displays of affection to a minimum when in public. Just be honest with him. If he loves you he will understand.

Communication! I would just try to set down with him and as kindly as possible explain to him how you feel. Who knows he might think you like it. Communication is one of the best things to have in a relationship. You have got to let him know how you feel, exspecially if you really care about him.

well, you can start with "ow! not so tight!" or "I can't breathe." and work from there.
