We have an old hot tub that needs replaced badly, but that is in next years budget. We are wanting to make it look nice for this last season. I do not want to spend $85.00 on a paint to refinish it. Has anyone used Krylon Fusion on a hot tub or even bath tub before? Did it work? What are my other "Wal-Mart" options for the refinish?

Yes, I had found the correct paint, which is a 2 step process and involves resin. LOL Since we are getting our new one once the rest of the remodel is finished, I still want to try it. I did paint a small peice of the product with the Krylon and have it in a crock pot at 125 degrees to see how it with stands continous water, heat, and friction. I am curious for my own benfit. The Krylon company actually said it could work, but they make no gaurantees. LOL I just dont want to waste my time and money since this is the last year of use on anything more expensive. I think it will be fun to experiment either way. Is there a reason why it wont work other than it wasnt meant to do it? Thanks so much for all the advice on what to use. Has anyone ever tried it?

There are no "Wal-Mart options" for this type of job. It just won't work. Fusion spray is made for outside lawn furniture, end of story. What you need is an epoxy based resin paint that you can purchase from Home Depot but, I'm afraid it's going to run about $65.00 for an amount equal to a regular tub so, I would guess about $130.00 to do the job.
You have to have the right materials to do the job right.

I painted my old hot tub with Krylon Fusion with mixed results. I looks much better than it did before. Every year I have to touch it up, this year I added a clear top coat and it seems to be holding up much better. I used a satin coat vs a shiny coat as you can never get a good job with rattle cans.

I also am a painting contractor and agree with the above post,an epoxy is your only option and it is spendy, you might want to just let it go this season and get the new one nent year and save yourself the headache of working with epoxy.
