I am thinking of letting it remain puppy size or stunt its growth. Has anyone heard anything like this? What are the side effects to its health?

This is a genuine question because i read about it in the papers some years back. I have a dog and it is big and beautiful. Just wondering if anyone has a clue if this is actually even possible. Of course some of you might get offended but its not as though i have attempted to do that. I believe some japanese has tried to do this and i cant seem to find anything on it because i cant read their language at all. How moronic can you be to think that it has already been done if i am asking about the side effects here. Ask around and you will realise many people will want their dog to remain small unless they like big dogs like you and me. U guys need to chill.

And seriously there will be people trying to find out about this as well. Ask around if anyone likes their dog in their puppy state most or not and you will see.

I rescued a dog that nearly died from somebody doing crap like this. Basically the dog's organs shut down. It's an awful death!

Give your puppy to somebody who will care for it properly. Obviously, you shouldn't be owning a dog (or anything living).

You can't stop a human from reaching his/her true size nor can you stop a dog from growing....and you wouldn't want to. It could kill the dog. Feed the dog well and try to keep the portions on the lean side. This will slow the growth of fat but not the bone size. A nice lean well proportioned dog is a healthy dog.

It is possible to stunt it's growth by inducing a serious illness but that is just cruel!!! Keeping the dog puppy size isn't doing the dog any favours so just let it grow naturally. It will get sick and die young if you stunt it's growth.

Perhaps you should have ordered your bonsai kitten while it was still available!

Seriously, the others are right. Any attempts to stunt an animal will cause it to have lifelong joint issues and will likely be viewed as a form of animal abuse.

Not only will PETA hate you, but law enforcement will probably not be amused.

You can't force it to remain a puppy. If you want something that will remain a cute puppy for forever then get a stuffed puppy and rehome your puppy. If you even attempt to stunt his or her growth you will cause serious joint damage, disfigurement, or you'll just kill the poor thing.

You can't...However you can quit trying to. If you try to stunt its growth, it could have serious health problems. Such as, its hips could drop, because they werent allowed to grow properly, you could not stop its growth completely, so it will be uneven.

I'm going to assume your joking, since I can't bear to imagine the sort of person that would be serious.

You just never can tell on these boards really.

You should have gotten a smaller dog to begin with if you don't want a larger one. Give that one to someone who will love it allow it to grow naturally.

Your night so slow that you have to resort to trolling Yahoo Answers?

Seriously, no one could be so dumb as to actually ask this question in earnest.

Science says "no."

You can stunt it's growth but it will become sick and die an early death. Not fun.
