No.

Cold sores are part of the herpes simplex virus which include genital herpes, but they are not considered a STD.

The most common way of contracting cold sores is by kissing someone who has them. Kissing is not considered "sexual" like sex (vaginal, oral, or anal).

yes dear cold sores on your mouth are hsv type 1 which stands for herpes simplex virus type 1 the type that you get on your genitals is type 2...the ones on the mouth wouldnt usually classify as an std but if you perform oral on someone and transmitted to them yes its considered an std...whether people would like to face this or not we all have a little bit of the virus in our system..it is a virus so the cold sore (hsv type 1) can not be cured but can be treated with over the counter medications...or if just left alone will go away within a few days...and if you try to stay stress free it will reduce the amount of outbreaks you get..im a nurse practioner with planned parenthood and i have seen alot in my day..so stay safe!

A cold sore is caused by a type of herpes virus. It's only considered an STD if it gets spread via some kind of sexual act...kissing does not count. If a woman had a cold sore and performed oral sex on a man, then he could get it on his penis and potentially transmit it back to her or another woman through vaginal intercourse..........I think.

Cold sores are cause by the HSV -1( Herpes Simplex Virus 1). Even though it can be sexually transmitted, most people obtain the virus from family members when they are very young through simple kissing by the parents. It is estimated that ~80% of Americans carry the HSV1 but fortunately they don't have symptoms. HSV-2 , genital herpes, is sexually transmitted.
