How do you feel about a drink of alcohol? Not much maybe a 8 ounce glass of something/mixed with caffeine. This will keep you calm and sometimes breath better without focusing on it as much. I understand the insurance thing I too had to go without while I went back to school. Okay stating that, if your breathing gets too labored it could really be life threaten so seek help if that is the case. Make sure your sheets are washed and you have no down or feather pillows. Keep any pets outside, I use at Walmart the over the counter allergy and sinus meds by Equate brand it is less than $4.00 for a 24 pack. Does anyone you know have a nebulizer with some albuterol you could use to clear your airways. Do you have a room purifier? If so, get in a small room and relax. Laying down can also increase the systems so do not lay flat. Curl up on the corner of a couch and read a book. Do not dust, vacuum or do chores with weekend to stir up the dust. Stay away from smokers, aerosols, perfumes these will just contract your airways even more.

A humidifier could help you with the breathing problems you may be receiving. A hot shower could also help as the heat and the moisture can help open your bronchial tubes and relieve, partially, the symptoms you are feeling. Remain indoors as much as possible.

If the symptoms become unbearable, go the emergency room as they are open 24/7/365 and a physician can issue you a prescription after a physical examination.

My son has asthma like yours and this might help , If you are having an attack stick your head in the freezer and breath. You can also go to an ice skating rink and sit in there. Asthma is often allergy related and you may be having attacks because spring is here and there is pollen, etc. Stay indoors and turn up your AC. (I KNOW I KNOW ITS COLD) but it reduces the pollens.

My son has asthma and we used nebulizers before.I always keep some vials tucked away just in case. They don't expire as quickly as the inhalers.Do you have these? If not, then at least take some over the counter allergy meds.Drink coffee, lots of water and mucinex.Coffee is a bronchodialator.

You need to go to an ER. My hospital ER is required by law to help a person if they have money or not. Yes, asthma IS a life threatening health condition. Don't take chances with your life.

Does your doctor have an emergency phone number or answering service? If he does, you should call and have him call in the prescription.
