I totally agree with the few who said to try different brands of veggie burgers or try to make some from a recipe. Some burgers are better than others...plus it makes a big difference with how you prepare them and what you put on them.

I gotta say I've never noticed that veggie burgers smelled bad... the meat burgers smell bad in my opinion... I'm sorry to say to you if you eat them.... the whole singed flesh aroma makes me gag.

For me it took about 5 trys to find a packaged veggie burger I liked... the others just got composted.

Good luck and don't be afraid (grin).

Good question. Lots of different foods smell awful but taste great! For intance...
beer
seafood
cheeses
yogurt
Certain cultural foods from different countries

I enjoy a good veggie burger now and then. They're very best when they're not overcooked. I love Beck's Prime veggie burgers and even Denny's does a pretty good veggie burger too.

Go ahead - be adventurous and eat your veggie burger and then YOU decide whether you like it or not. Your tast buds will let you know!

Since there are about fifty million types of veggie burgers, I'd have to say no. I've had some that were good and some that weren't...but if what you're smelling doesn't smell right, then you probably aren't going to enjoy eating it. Try a different brand of veggie burger or one with different ingredients if you're interested in eating them.

I'm pretty picky about my vege burgers, so here's a couple of ones that are my favorites:

Morning Star Tomato Pizza Burger
Bocca Original Classic Flame Grilled (stay away from the Vegan ones, or the ones that specialize in soy!)
MorningStar Breaded Chicken Parmesan Cutlets

Depends on which ones you get, there are dozens of kinds. They can be made of beans, veggies, soy, wheat, etc... and have various flavorings. So depends what you choose.

The black bean burgers at Chili's aren't too bad. The regular Boca burgers are not my favorite. I usually just eat the standard veggie Gardenburger. I've had straight soy burgers I thought were good.

I also like the veggie patties at Subway.

Unlike regular burgers, different types of veggie burgers taste (and smell) different. Some are delicious, moist, and flavorful; and some are dry, bland, and gross. It depends. Try sauteing a Portabella mushroom cap and serve as a veggie burger.

I don't think so, if you want to try a good brand of fake meat I highly suggest Morning Star, you can find it in the freezer isle of most super markets. Also, they sell Veggie Burgers at Burger King now, and those are pretty nice. :]

Nope, I haven't noticed a bad smell. Maybe the one you smelled was old and rancid. Have you even smelled a veggie burger? It sounds like you haven't tried one.

When I first tried a mushroom burger & a veggie burger, I thought they were the nastiest things I ever tasted. We had to switch to them to save calories, but after the 2nd or 3rd time, now I absolutely love them! I think they are what they call an "acquired taste".
