Yes. A stroke can affect one side of the body.
Each half of the brain controls the opposite side of the body.
My story -
I had a contra-coup brain injury that parlyzed the opposite side of the body, but on the same side as the site of impact, my bones (elbow and hip) were fractured. This left me completely immoble, having seizures and in a coma.
Recovery has been gradual, but I still have to deal with stuff.
