HIV is a really fragile virus that dies very quickly when exposed to air. IF you were to take the virus outside of the fluid it is in (such as blood, semen, vaginal secretions), it would last maybe 10 minutes. When it is still in the fluid and depending on the concentration of both the fluid and the HIV, it may take a few hours, and maximum, a day to die.
