Meat eaters eat muscle tissue, skin, bones, tendons, veins, blood, and other organic organs. So why is it strange in comparison to eat soy?

In response to Matt:

I am not a smelly hippy. I dress business casual and am an assistant manager at a hotel. Don't stereotype me.

Furthermore, if you are going to compare eating a breathing animal to a seed you are an asshole. Just admit you don't care about the pain of others.

Its because we strayed from the herd (literally) Because we took the time to educate ourselves about what is healthy and what is not, uneducated people (and I mean only on the topic of food) do not realize how unhealthy and unsanitary meat really is. They have been brainwashed to believe the body needs decaying animal flesh to be healthy. I, too, am well educated, with multiple college degrees, dress well, run a thriving home based business, am self sufficient, fun, creative, and not a smelly hippie. Pity the fools who think we are weird. Like you, I think eating diseased, tortured animal flesh is weird. I will take the stereotyping and veggies over dead animals any day. Its what they tell themselves to make them feel better for being weak enough to satisfy their own greed and appetite for meat, and sacrificing an animals for their own selfish desires.

I don't think it is all that weird, and I certainly don't think there is anything wrong with it. However, weird pretty much just means, "not normal." And normal pretty much just means, "what most people do." So, in that sense, it is weird. Most people don't like soy, and most people like meat.

Of course weird can also mean strange or bizarre. In that sense I don't think it is weird at all. Honestly, I wish I liked meat a little less and vegetables a little more. It makes it harder to eat healthy. I do love fruit, however. Especially berries. YUM!

I do have a problem with vegetarians that call me a murderer for eating a hamburger. However, I have found that less and less vegetarians act this way, and make it a personal choice. I say if you are going to be called weird for a choice you make, make it a healthy one! God bless.

I'm a vegetarian by religion and I don't eat meat because it causes unnecessary suffering to the animal. The difference is that soy does not experience pain.

This is a weird kind of question! lol.
I don't know. If you think about it though, vegetarians are healthier than us meat eaters. Because meat has so much grease in it that causes health problems later on in life, such as clogged arteries. Vegetarians are also alot thinner too!

Because we were never given the option in grade school that perhaps we could label ourselves herbivores.

"Now, children, what are we? That's right, omnivores. Not herbivores or carnivores. We are all omnivores."

And that's basically how it's all looked at because people think this incredibly cannibalistic, vampirous habit is "normal". When our teeth aren't even meant for eating meat and people have household pets, yet eat meat without a problem.

Whatever, I know I'm normal... and not a murderer or cannibal. So I feel pretty good.

It's probably for the same reason that most vegetarians think eating meat is bad. They see it as cruel to animals and meateaters can't anthropomorphise the animals so they don't care. To them soy just seemd like the weak hippy option instead of being more healthy.

It's only considered weird because it is not what the majority do. Many people feel some sense of personal attack on them the moment you mention you are vegetarian, as they feel you are disapproving of what they do and feel that they ought to mock you for being vegetarian.

Good point. My mom and brother give me the hardest time about not eating meat. Go figure.

What I can never figure out is where these people got their opinion that we can't survive eating a plant based diet without supplements. It is perfectly possible to be healthy without eating any animal products at all without supplements. Check your facts, people!

Although I'm not a vegetarian, I don't consider it weird to be one, not at all. What the hell is Matt ranting about? Now THAT'S weird.
