I'm floored by the number of people who misrepresent ethical veganism and vegetarianism as juvenile or overly-sentimental. I have a feeling that the morality of fruitarians - and their reasons for going fruitarian- are similarly misrepresented, so I'm curious: Why did you go fruitarian?

Thanks for all the answers, and if it matters, I'm a vegetarian transitioning to a totally vegan lifestyle.

Oh, and judgemental idiots will either be reported or thumbs down'd and ignored.

Yes, 'Everyone else is crazy ... but me' (both ironic and redundant!), that's you!

You may have seen vegetarians asked "What about plants, why do you kill them?"

It's such a "good" question... right? Well, ethical fruitarians in a way think it is. Fruitarians avoid killing both plants and animals. They believe that all life is sacred, or otherwise don't want to participate in killing.

Eating fruit doesn't kill or harm the plant. (The purpose of fruit is to help spread the seeds for reproduction. It's tasty for a reason, the seeds get deposited some distance away along with some fertilizer.)

While it might seem unusual to care about plants in this way, you probably do it yourself. People have a reverence for centuries old trees.

The Bible says Moderation in all things and it also says
God says: I have given ye all manners of herbs and fruits bearing seeds let be thy meat! Genesis 1:29
I eat more fruit than veggies cause I feel healthier that way!
Eating more Fruit Idea came from a Book: The Healthy Way by Earl Mindrell! He didn't lie. There might be other ways to be healthy. Vegetarianism or Veganism isn't for everyone. Each of Us has to find what is right for our spirit!
Not just the body! I'm however not always walking in my spirit cause I sometimes cower to pressures of insulters, mockers, put downers.. that refuse to understand cause they don't want to understand. I never eat meat knowingly.. I've been deceived a few times though! I'm nearly a vegan but I just can't give up Ice cream and like the taste of eggs but I eat a lot less of that than I use to. One of my sisters is a fruitarian but that's because it's the only things she can eat without breaking out with allergies of somekind!

Maybe because some animals are killed during harvesting of crops.I think most fruits are hand picked so it doesn't require machinery that would present a danger to animals.Or maybe they are Jains.

While fruits and vegetables BOTH have rights, and both experience pain during cooking, vegetables don't scream as loud when you dice them, and fruit-rights are legally enforceable, while vegetable-rights are still being decided at the state court level.

The number of thumbs down is directly proportional to the insightfulness of the answer, my plant-eating friends!
