In addition to the many serious medical conditions which can result from dehydration, it may result in the formation of kidney stones and renal failure. Dehydration is a root cause of kidney stones... consequently, consumption of adequate amounts of water every day is essential to preventing kidney stones.

As you may know, the body is made up primarily of water. Water is indeed necessary for many of the body's biological functions. The kidneys ensure that the concentration and volume of the blood stays more or less the same all the time. If you are dehydrated for an extended period of time, many of the body's essential functions will be affected, including kidney function. (Diminished kidney function is known as renal failure).

Renal failure is extremely serious, as it causes the blood to become contaminated; it affects the production of some essential hormones; affects the body's pH, etc.

The best thing you can do for your kidneys and your general health is to ensure that you consume adequate amounts of water everyday!!!

Dehydration seriously affects the kidneys. The amount of damage depends on your age. Young people usually bounce back better then the elderly.

There was a football player (16 y/o) who's coaches forced him to do extra sprints out on the field, in the heat, for an extended period of time. No water breaks for hours.

He found out later that his kidneys shut down. We had to put a temporary dialysis catheter in his chest so he could have dialysis. Thankfully, by the end of summer his kidneys recovered, and he was able to have the catheter removed.

Dehydration can be bad.

The ultimate end result if Acute dehydration, is Acute renal failure, resulting in uremia and death.

Same is the case with long standing cases but with a few additions e.g renal stone, sec. hypertension and so on until acute renal failure even if you recover from it eventually with age you will go into CRF and miserable death.

So ingest 4-6 litres of daily.

I would think that it would affect your kidneys in a bad way if you prolong it. The best thing to do is to start drinking more fluids, watermelon are good for the kidneys, peppermint tea-but don't mess with the kidneys or any other vital organ. Good luck and please take care of your health.

when you are dehydrated your blood pressure will be low. With low blood pressure this can affect the volume of blood that goes to your kidney. This can lead to acute renal failure.

As I have experienced, there are patients who had recovered from dehydration leading acute renal failure. but he most, dreadful thing that can happen death.
