The Red Cross, and all other blood services agencies in the USA, test all donated blood for HIV, HCV, HTLV and many other viruses and bacteria. They only notify people who are infected. If your blood was not infected, you never get any notice. The test and notice are done within a week or so.

Rumors about HIV and other viruses always go around. There is more mis-information about most of these things than true information. One case in point is that pk_dag (AKA Paul King from the MSN Dissident Action Group) answers many HIV/AIDS questions here with claims that HIV has not been proven to exist etc...

Most likely that is a rumor. They would use new sterile needles every time. You do get notices for blood drives once you give blood. It is nothing new. If you are worried about HIV because of you being sexually active, then you can usually get tested for free at a county health center or Planned Parenthood. You most likely did not get HIV by giving blood and I very much doubt you have HIV

Whenever anyone donates blood you can be certain that it will be check for any STD's including HIV.

It’s possible that your response has been lost in the Mail; The Post Office is not perfect.

If your looking for a Free Blood test! You can go to the nearest Red Cross and donate blood again and they will check your blood and you can be sure that they will contact you personally within a couple of days.

Good Luck

Let me share this story with you,
I had been tested and was told if any thing is wrong the office will call me in to come into the office and will not tell me anything over the phone.

I tested Negative and after six months I decided to get tested again just to be safe. Well after the third day I received a call at my work from my Doctors Office and they wanted me to come into Office that the Doctor wanted to see me, well my Heart Drop.

I was scared and while I was sitting in the office lobby my Doctor walked in and told me WHY Are you Here?

I told him that the Office called me and you wanted to see me, he told me to wait! He was looking for my file and then the nurse took me into the room and I was waiting for about 10 minutes and then my Doctor comes in the room and Apologized for me coming to the office and that they Should Have Not Called Me.

But they still could not find the file and he ask me to wait, to prove to me that everything is OK!

After another 5 minutes they finely find the file and he shows me the paperwork with my name on it and it read NETGITIVE, I was relieved.

And was Very Happy to hear/read such Good News!

So when you don’t receive the notice from the post office, don’t be too worried and get tested again!

Good Luck!
