Here's the deal. I just found out I have anorectal gonorrhea. I don't know when I may have gotten it, I have never had any symptoms. My doctor said that without symptoms, it could be have been anywhere from days to years. I have been with my boyfriend for 8 months, and I have been faithful since the day we met. He got tested and was negative, so he of course thinks I cheated. I didn't. Is it possible for me to have it, and he not. I was most often on the receiving end during sex, if you know what that means. Please someone help.

Most people who have a sexually transmitted disease show no symptoms. Oftentimes, they can spread the infection when they're unaware that they have it.

There is a slim chance that you can have it, but not him. While gonorrhea is usually a hardier infection, in some cases, the infection may clear itself after a while. Thank the immune system for that. So there's a chance he may have gotten the infection then resolved it spontaneously. The rectum is a more susceptible site of infection than the male urethra, which may be why your infection could persist longer. I don't know if you and your partner switch off between receptive and penetrative activity, but has he been checked for urethral infection, too? Just in case, BOTH of you should have been given antibiotics for the infection. Otherwise, reinfection is a strong possibility.

Anyway, in general, I recommend that all sexually active people get tested on a regular basis, twice a year at least. I also recommend that people -- even long-term monogamous ones -- use condoms to prevent infections.

You cheated, just admit it.
Repent and he may forgive you.
