Your local store with a bakery or actual bakery has a big book of cakes. I would suggest since it is his first that you get 2 cakes one for everyone to enjoy and a small one for the lil slugger to destroy.

Hi Steven,
I just sent an email to Kara. I am a mother of 4 children and love making cakes. I found some cute ideas for her and have sent them on, I also listed the web sites that have ideas for themed parties. Have a great party for your little one - I like the theme "lil sluggers" - it's very cute.
Kind regards
Mel G.

In case your wife is not very creative or an experienced cake decorator but still wants to make her own cake, nothing could be eaiser than a simple baseball. All she will need is regular round cake pan, white frosting and a tube of red writing icing or gel to make the stitches. If not, I'd suggest she orders something from a bakery or supermarket.

Go to this website and do a search of the cakes. You have thousands to look at and there is a section for sports themed cakes. You'll find exactly what you want.

If your wife is baking the cake herself, you can buy those little characters made out of plastic from a supply store or toy store, but make sure they are pure plastic and not painted. I have seen mediem sized sport theme dolls in the big box stores as well.

There are wonderful edible cake toppers that look like batter helmets and there is even a cake shaped like a baseball cap.
You'll find more cakes at http://fun-kid-birthday-cakes.com

you could have your wife go to a craft store like Michael's and get a cake pan of a ball or a bat and then to small cupcakes and decorate them like baseballs that way your child can have is very own cupcake to mess with
