I saw it done on tv once but I don't know if JELLO is actually strong enough to support the stapler. I assume I'll need to tie it up with string but will the jello just bust when I detach the string from the mold?

Buy commercial jello... go ask your favorite restaurant manager to sell you some.
Then cut down on the amount of water and after jello is firm then place stapler on top... and no it should not hurt the stapler.
SEW= sounds like a party is being planned... lol

You'll need to have enough completed jello product to support the weight of the stapler and diffuse it, which means, that the bigger the stapler, the bigger the batch of jello. For a standard stapler, I'd consider making 2 boxes of jello using only half the water. This should get you a firmer product. Instead of pouring it into a larger container, use a slightly smaller container so that the product is deeper and more dense. I'm hoping that you aren't going to use the stapler again, or eat the leftover jello!

Yes. What you do is cut the normal JELLO with Knox Gelatin. Knox is the stuff used to make Jello Shooters that makes it firm up more than regular gelatin. I can tell you 100% that what you saw used to Knox in order to suspend the stapler.
Why would you need to tie the stapler up with string?
Get a large pan - deep enough to hold the stapler - put the stapler in on it's side and then pour in the gelatin mixer. When it hardens - voila.
I'm not sure exactly what ratio of Knox to Jello you will need in order to make the jello firm enough to support the stapler but you can experiment.
Yes - it will ruin the stapler.

You must be a fan of The Office! I think his stapler would be ruined, so get him a new one before you do it. You don't have to add more gelatin to get the stapler to "float". Just fill the bowl 1/3 to 1/2 full with the liquid and let it set, then put in the stapler and fill the rest of the way up with the liquid and let that set and there you go! The stapler will sit on the portion that is already set and the rest of the liquid will set around it!

Yeah! Just make 2 regular packs of jello in a narrow deep dish wide enough for your stapler and let it set up firm. then lay, gently, your stapler on top. Then make enough jello to cover and use the quick set method. pour slowly over top and cool. Good Luck!

Make your Jello in two batches, one on the bottom, let it set, stapler, then fill it up. If you make each Jello pack with only 3/4 c boiling water you can even hold it in your hands, it will be tougher.

We did it for a female army mates birthday. First we made up some jello poured it into a dish and let it go hard. We then laid a pink dildo (Bad I know!) on the firm jello then made up a second mix and poured it on top. You should have seen her face when the cover came off! Red as a beetroot! Lol.
