I may be anemic. I'm a vegan and I don't eat any animal products, from meat, to cheese, eggs or even gelatin something you could find in gummy bears. Any advice about
reducing the dark circles under my eyes. I'm fair skin and I have blue eyes. Thank you for taking the time if you have some kind of input.

Don't listen to people that are rude because you made the personal choice to be vegan. However; your body can be lacking a lot of nutrients. You should go see a doctor and ask him about some supplements you can take to replace the lost nutrients in protien. You can eat nuts and beans and there are a couple other foods that have protein. But, definately get those supplements. Also in the mean time you can go get a concealer made by physicians formula. It comes in blue or green and it is great for camoflauge dark circles as I suffer from the same thing. And I am not a vegetarian so it has nothing to do with the being a vegan.

You are an ******* Human Being. Stop trying to be more or gain a heightened presence or whatever the reason you crackpots act like idiots and EAT SOME NORMAL FOOD. News flash for you, we are MAMMALS. Thats a livebearing, milkproducing ANIMAL. Get it? Biological being, meaning that we use food intake to make calories to give us energy for the body to do things like uh... survive. Probably some sleep would help too, your stomach growling all night long is most likely keeping you up. Throw you on an island or even in a different country for awhile you would change your attitude real quick. Because pressed to the limit your MAMMAL body, the biological part, would over rule your HUMAN brain, the social thought part, and do what it took to SURVIVE. Sans the dark circles and everything. You'd be amazed how great a human body will work when you actually give it the nutrients, proteins and vitamins it needs to live. Who knows you might even live past 20.

There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

If not from lack of sleep, usually black circles under the eyes could indicate kidney weakness. That's the first thing that comes to mind. Your kidneys are either overworked or not working properly. Consult with some Chinese herbalists and see what they say. Chinese herbalists are really the best at bodily ailments. [note: to be a real herbalist it takes 7 years of training and apprenticeship, not just some 1 year certificate].

do you get enough sleep? are you under a lot of stress? what i personally do for dark circles, if i got one of those cheap eyes gel masks from walmart, and put it on in the morning when i eat breakfast, so i dont have dark circles during the day. i also use prep. h on my eyes, and a very light concealer and a little white eyeshadow (or a facial highlighter) under my eyes too, all these together seem to keep the dark circles away:)

You may be able to make improvements to their appearance or to "conceal" them, but many people have dark circles under or around their eyes just genetically (it's usually more obvious after puberty).

There seem to me to be two color types of dark circles that occur under the eyes or around them... a kind of brownish color, and a kind of purplish color. The purplish type is worse in women than in men because their skin is thinner on the face so what's under the skin can show through it more easily.

Being stressed, or lack of sleep, or lack of certain minerals etc, could make the purplish ones worse-- and since you're a vegan you should definitely find out about proper nutrition for vegans! --but correcting those other things usually won't make the circles really go away completely.

Allergies of various types have been implicated in "dark circles" too, but don't think there's anything definitive in the scientific literature, or about what can be done. It could be a good idea to figure out anything you might be allergic to and eliminate it if possible though, in any case.

There are some "eye creams" that have Vitamin K which some people feel have improved their dark circles since Vitamin K strengthens the capillaries underneath the skin and reduces "bruising" (...I tried a good one for several months and didn't help me, but I'd think it would still be worth trying).

The main thing you can probably do is just to use an undereye "concealer."
Even if you don't like to wear a lot of make-up, concealer will help you look less "haggard," more "even-toned," and just happier, more rested, and "prettier" --especially as you age.

Concealers come in various forms (liquids, sticks, creams) but you probably want one with a high percentage of titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide since those are the *opaque* materials which will actually do the masking of the dark color. (I just use the Max Factor "Pan Stick" as a concealer since it's a stick but creamy and easy to apply, in a color slightly lighter than the rest of my face... then I feather the edges of it, or apply a bit more to cheeks and nose but spreading that out a lot. Sometimes I add a bit of face powder to help "set" it if I want it to last longer.)
You can use a regular "foundation" liquid over the concealer or around its edges if you want to really "even out the skin tones all over your face," and can also use any additional stuff like blush or mascara, etc., afterwards.

(Btw, cucumber slices will help eye puffiness or bags around the eyes a lot, but don't think it does anything for dark circles . . . they're a separate issue, though both could be present for some people.)

I am vegetarian, and I used to have terribly dark circles about my eyes. Then I found out I am allergic to one of the proteins in milk. Once I gave up ALL dairy, the circles disappeared. There may also be mold in your environment, and it can cause allergies which create shiners.
Check with an allergist.
Good luck

Well if you are a vegan , are you getting enuf of the OTHER Vitamins that your body needs?? are you taking supplements for the protien that you are lacking?? I have heard of cucumbers, also I guess.. the tried and true MAKE UP. But I too have circles under my eyes , but that is my heritage... so it doesnt GO AWAY.. I would also have a regular check up and blood work done to make shure my counts are good... and make shure that you are eating a BALANCED MEAL!!!

Lack of protein is my guess. You are consuming carbs which leave you hypoglycemic- shakey, clammy, hungry. This is exhausting after awhile. Check your protein/fat intake to lengthen out your flight between fuel refills.

By the way, lack of p/f leads to bone loss and a number of other ailments. Balance, balance!

Regarding the case of meat-- try split pea soup, chili, other beans/rice. You'll get your protein that way if you're averse to meat. Good luck!
