Since this is in the "Respiration" section, you're probably asking about corticosteroids, which are not the same as the much-more-dangerous anabolic steroids. Corticosteroids have several effects but the most significant with respect to respiratory function is that corticosteroids reduce swelling. That's why several asthma inhalers (Flonase, Advair, etc.) use a corticosteroid called fluticasone, which reduces swelling in bronchial passages and helps to free breathing. These should only be used as directed by a physician, as all steroids cause lots of problems when used indiscriminately over the long term.

Its definetly not good for the growing body. especially if you're a male, and especially if you're a teenager. Steroids comes into your body like an invader. It invades your testosterone production, which you need for masculinity aka deep voice, muscles, growth of sexual organs, etc. It gives your muscles the ability to withstand pain for a longer time, allowing you to engage in more vigorous physical activity, but it takes over your testosterone. Your testosterone stops producing because the steroids trick your body and becomes a substitute testosterone. Since it is not natural, it stumps the growth of your penis and testis, and may actually shrink them in size.

I asume you are talking about corticosteroids rather than anabolic (body building) steroids. See the link below.
Anabolic steroids are very dangerous and have some very nasty side effects, you would be very sensible to give them a very wide berth if you are thinking about taking them.

Anabolic steroids are used to enhance physical performance and muscle growth. When used chronically at high doses and without medical supervision, they can cause erratic and irrational behavior and a wide range of physical adverse effects.
