Depends on what your tastes are. Yes, Bocca burgers are vegetarian (many of them are vegan). I personally don't like the meatiest tasting ones (to me, some of them just taste too much like meat). I prefer the roasted veggie or mushroom varieties.
Yes, you can use a large portabello mushroom. I usually marinade mine in something like teriyaki sauce for 10-30 minutes. Then I grill them for about 7-9 minutes on each side (depends on the size). Or, you can cook them in a skillet or a grilling skillet if you're not at the grill.

Boca Burgers are delicious. Also the ones made my Morningstar Farms are good. Morningstar makes really good meatless meat products, even like Buffalo Chicken, ground "meat", etc. I was a vegetarian for years and lived on that stuff...even now I still enjoy it.
I would lightly marinate the portabellos (in a balsamic vinegar or similar) then throw them on the grill for a couple of minutes. Watch carefully, they don't take long! They're really good topped with tomatoes, spinach or any other fresh veggies, as kind of a gourmet burger. Enjoy!!

My roommate eats boca burgers a lot. She also eats real meat, so that probably says a lot for boca burgers. She said they're good with extra ketchup and mustard. I don't eat meat at all and I don't crave meat, so I usually don't find myself wanting to eat fake meat. I'm sure if I ever got a craving, I would eat a boca burger before any other fake meat. But I have heard from a lot of meat eaters that boca burgers are good, crazy huh? They even know what the real thing tastes like and they still eat boca burgers. They must be pretty good.

I like the Morningstar crumbles for some recipes. I'm not a vegetarian, but I try to eat vegetarian meals every now and then. I haven't tried their burgers, but I've heard good things about them. Portobello mushrooms are very good and "meaty". You can brush them with olive oil and roast them in the oven or on the grill. They're pretty tasty. Just remember to scrape off the black gills before you cook them.

Mushroom burgers are great. You can also saute some onions, peppers, garlic and what every spices you like. Boil some black beans until done. Puree the black beans with the onion and pepper mix. Toss into a bowl with some oatmeal (not the instant kind) and press into patties to make your own garden burgers.

I like Boca burgers. I don't eat them a lot, but every once in a while. But when you load them up with the usual burger toppings (tomato, lettuce, onion, mustard, barbeque sauce, ketchup, pickles or whatever) they are pretty good. Of course they don't have the exact same consistency of regular ground beef burgers, but once you start eating vegetarian alternatives you start to get use to the taste just like meat-eaters get used to the taste of the different meats. Honestly people say they like the taste of meat, but normally most people season or smoke their meats before eating them so they actually like the flavorings added in combination with the basic meat flavor and not just the meat by itself.
I like to use Boca Crumbles though in like spaghetti or chili or tacos. There are so many uses for Boca or any other meat substitute.

Bocca Burgers are GREAT! I love them a lot. I don't really care for Gardenburgers. They have a strange texture.
Sorry - can't help you with the mushrooms. I think they're icky.

I think they are okay. Personally I like the original Gardenburger (vegetable patty).
I've cooked portabello in a frying pan with olive oil and vinegar and a little soy sauce with salt/pepper. It's best to use low heat and turn it a number of times.

my favorites are Franklin Farms burgers, the portebello ones and the regular.
Portebello mushrooms are delicious also. Try marinading them in olive oil and Balsamic vinegar. Then grill them or fry them in a pan. Throw some romaine lettuce and some parmesan cheese onto a bulkie roll, or whole grain bread. Delicious!!!!!
