You probably have BV (bacterial vaginosis).
One of the most distinctive signs of BV is the "fishy smell". Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a change in the balance of bacteria that are normally present in the vagina, which can cause bothersome symptoms.
Don't worry though, BV is NOT considered a STD and it's totally curable with antibiotics. Metronidazole (Flagyl) is usually prescribed to cure BV. Just a little heads up - this medication tastes horrible! It tastes like metal. So you definitely want to eat or drink something when you are taking it.
See a doctor ASAP and get some medication. It will clear right up! Good luck to you!

It depends on a few things - first of all, have you had this before and has it lasted a few days and just gone away on its own and is the discharge clear or white? If so then its just a natural occurance or cleaning or your bacteria levels have changed. If you have been sexually active recently, and or the discharge is yellow/green or really thick you should go get it checked out because it could signal some sort of bacterial infection or STD.

Sounds like a classic bacterial vaginosis. This is characterized by the fishy smell discharge. You need to see the Ob/gyn ASAP to get the antibiotics to clear this up. This could lead to sterility if go on untreated.

See a doctor for meds. It could be a lot of things but none of them are very serious, just itchy or painful (as well as the bad smell). Could be vaginitis or a yeast infection or some other kind of infection.

Bacterial vaginosis suspected.
Bacterial vaginosis is vaginitis due to a complex alteration of vaginal flora in which lactobacilli are decreased and anaerobic pathogens overgrow. Symptoms include a gray, thin, fishy-smelling vaginal discharge and itching. Diagnosis is clinical and by testing of vaginal secretions. Treatment is usually with oral or topical metronidazole or topical clindamycin.
Please see the web pages for more details on Bacterial vaginosis.

Yeast infection....Go to clinic or doctor. The smell will not go away without their help...It will be to late and the odor will literally be like a dead fish and then it will be harder to get rid of the smell no matter how many showers, baths, ect.5 mins later it is back...The Dr. will give you pills for about 1 week and it will disappear....

you may have some type of bacteria in there. Go see an obgyn and tell her/him about it. They will probably give you an antibacteria that you just inject in there (like a tampon). That will kill the bacteria causeing the odor. You may even find something over-the-counter that you may wanna try first. Good luck
