Smitty this is a very interesting question. All of these fighters had some significant wins such as Young's victory over Foreman. Foster had a trememndous knockout ratio. Quarry seemed to be able to beat anybody other than Frazier and Ali. Several of these guys also gave some good accounts of themselves against tough opposition. Here is my list sir:

1. Jimmy Young
2. Jerry Quarry
3. Earnie Shavers
4. Oscar Bonavena
5. Ron Lyle
6. George Chuvalo
7. Zora Folley
8. Mac Foster
9. Henry Cooper
10. Cleveland Williams
11. Ernie Terrell
12. Eddie Machen

Ernie Shavers
Jimmy Young
Bob Foster (assuming the M was a type o)
Ron Lyle
Ernie Terrel
Cleveland Williams
Henry Cooper
Oscar Bonavena
Jerry Quarrey
George Chuvalo
Zora Folley
Eddie Machen

It was difficult for the blogbaba to choose between Jimmy Young and Ernie Shavers, Young was equal to or better than just about everyone of his era, which is saying a lot since his era consisted of the likes of Ali, Forman, Frazier, Norton ect. In the end I went with the booming power of Shavers over the agressiveness of Young. Close call. I wasn't sure if the M was intentional or a type o and assumed Bob Foster was who you were referring to. The rest just fell into the order they fell.

Great list.. I had forgot all about Mac Foster with his knockout ratio. Quarry and Young were good counterpunchers. Nice listing of fighters who gave some of the top Heavyweights problems back then....

Smitty, that was a tough list! Jimmy Young was one underrated boxer, one of the best pure counter-punchers I've ever seen. Jerry Quarry beat just about everybody around during his day; he just couldn't put a dent in Ali or Frazier. Oscar Bonavena was a tough man who could HIT! He decked Frazier either 2 or 3 times during the course of his 2 fights with Joe, and gave Ali a good tussle. George Chuvalo had a chin like granite, and ol' Henry Cooper was the British champ for a long time. You can say good things about all of these guys; for my money, Young, Quarry, and Bonavena stand out.

I tried this several times, but I have too many ties. From the bottom it is Chuvalo, Quarry, Bonavena, the top down is impossible for me.
