I dont wash down there as much as I should, and am uncircumsized. If any of you could distinguish it from herpes, id really appreciate it. Im going to get checked, but very curious, because the sores look very similar.

The symptoms for Balantitis mild burning ,dry and red head on penis. try using lotrimen or mycelex cream on the sore for a few days. If it starts going away then you know this is what it was. Make sure you wash more often and eat a cup of yogurt everyday to help prevent a recurrence. The symptoms for herpes is Itching and tingling followed by clusters of painful blisters at the infection site. Swollen glands and fever. Blisters will come and go. If this is the cause go to the doctor and get a prescription for Valtrex or zovarax to prevent the flair ups. Until you know exactly what is going on DO NOT have unprotected sex. Yeast infections can be transferred back and forth so make sure your partner gets treated if you do have Balatitis

Herpes is a viral infection and balantis is a yeast growth similar to thrush but more severe.
You can contract them at any age.
