When planning a party for someone else, make sure you take their likes and dislikes into consideration. Would they like a DJ? If so, what kind of music do they enjoy? If you can't afford a DJ, a lot of reception halls have a sound system where you can play CDs. You can bring some of their favorites. Also, I would make up a big board filled with photos of their life together -- wedding photos, new parent photos, vacations, etc. Maybe someone could even make little rememberance booklets as a handout with their wedding photo and a current photo on the front and some of the highlights of their life together inside. I would get a wedding type cake and flowers. Get her a corsage.

At the anniversary party it is just that a party.Get the couple to say a few words and then toast them.If you can have the maid of honor and best man from the wedding there it would be nice.Make sure that alcohol can be served at the hall. You can have appetizers, chip and dips, cookies, punch, and of course the cake.If the couple are not in to gifts put a wishing well or money tree on their table.Do the speakes, make the toasts, start the party, and a DJ is a great idea.Do you have a person in your family that can do it free? You can do a punch to drink and then tell people to BYOB, that way it will cut down on dollars out of your pocket.Have fun.

A DJ is a great idea and give him a play list to go off of if you have ideas. Not sure about an open bar but hire a bar tender none the less, or maybe you could have a BYOB party and skip that worry.
I suggest having a couple's roast, where whoever wants to can get up and tell funny stories of how they met and other silly stories that have happened over the years. Make sure to put this on the invitations so that people can come prepared with stories.

Wow, grats to the inlaws. 25 years together is a milestone these days. I've been to parties like that. It's like the reception after a wedding to give you an idea. Great food, great music, great times. Lots of fanfare with nothing in the place but joy. Hey can I come? Lol. Have a good one.

I think a DJ is alwasy fun, if there is room to dance, but you could just as easy do a playlist (mp3 or ipod) yourself and plug it in. No-one really needs to hear the DJ's crap inbetween songs. Get a good mixture of 'oldies' and cheese. Re bar, i would say that depends on your budget. Perhaps wine and beer. Buy an amount and then when it runs out it runs out, so you're not hit with a huge bill at the end.
Have fun.

Sounds like fun. See if you can get old pictures of your in-laws and have them posted on bulletin boards to bring back memories of when they were younger. DJ or a band depending on the cost. See if you can give the DJ amusing stories from the in-laws past that he can share with the crowd.
Aslo have some food, if there is to be drinking. So, yeah, it is just like a wedding reception. Several years back I went to a 50th Annivesary and it was a lot of fun seeing old friends and relatives. Good luck

Have you thought about a band? You can usually find a nice jazz trio or a soft rock band for a pretty reasonable price in most areas. Also, instead of an open bar, try a beer and wine bar. Guests would only pay for liquor drinks, and you would pay about half the price per guest. Have a great time!

THE 25TH ANNA, IS THE SILVER ANNA, IT SHOULD BE SOMETHING FUN BUT ELIGANT. NOT A LOUD DJ, NOT A FULL SIZE BAR, BUT IF YOU KNOW AND MUSICIANS? LIVE IS ALWAYS BETTER (NOT A WEDDING SINGER)LOL! HAVE A BAR AND OF COURSE HAVE IT OPEN BUT TRY TO STAY AWAY FROM CHEEP BEERS AND STUFF LIKE THAT TRY TO GET "FANCY DRINKS" FUN DRINKS!
MAKE A THEME! GIVE A DRESS CODE, MAKE THE PLACE LOOK LIKE THE ERA OF THE DRESS CODE AND THE DRINKS/MUSIC TO MATCH! ARE THEY MUCH OLDER?50'S THEME? RED CARPET THEME? THINGS LIKE THAT ARE GREAT! AND ALOT OF FUN!!!!! O!!! AND IF YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE FROM THE 30'S ETC. SEE ABOUT A DANCE INSTRUCTER. SOMEONE TO TEACH SWING OR WHATEVER YOU DO..............
FROM PERSONAL IDEA. THE DIRTY DANCING THEME WAS A BLAST AT ME MOMS PARTY!!!!!!!!!
