i am a twenty-one year old woman (twenty-two in may) and since last night, i've had chest pain on my left upper chest. it seems to only hurt when i move a certain way, say like to pick something up or twist to sit, or lean over. it also kinda hurts when i breathe in. i used to think i had asthma, but when i got it checked out when i was eighteen, they ran a bunch of tests and told me i didn't have it. they didn't tell me anything else. i've also recently started doing crunches every morning and i've heard that starting excersise could cause your chest wall to hurt. does anyone have any suggestions? i know it's probably not signs of a heart attack, i am so young and i don't have any of the other symptoms. but it still worries me and i feel all anxious. i thought it would go away after i slept last night, that i would wake up and feel fine but it hasn't gone away yet. can anyone help?

Sounds musculoskeletal - sometimes it can take several weeks for a pulled muscle to settle. You might need to take some pain killers (paracetamol = acetaminophen).

If it is persistent or troublesome, you could see a doctor and have it checked out. However it sounds fairly benign. If you feel unwell, bad pains or develop any other symptoms, getting checked out would be a good idea.

I have a list of other things that cause chest pain, but what you are talking about sounds like a pulled muscle.
