Your father will always love you no matter what! Everyone is an individual that has their own opinions and needs. What I would do would be to introduce your thoughts about becoming a vegetarian. Why you want to go through with it is most important. I suggest asking him if he would watch a video about the way they treat the animals we eat.. Come up with a strategy that involves letting him now how you feel and why your making this decision. Dont forget to be as delicate as possible because this seems like a touchy subject! BEST OF LUCK!

I've known a lot of young people in the same position. It's your body and if you feel you can take on the responsibility of making sure you get the protein necessary to complete your diet, even to the point of preparing your own meals, it shouldn't be a problem. It doesn't even necessarily have to be an issue of how animals are processed for consumption. I personally have a problem digesting commercial meats due to the steroids and hormones that livestock are feed prior to slaughtering. Most livestock are fed copious amounts of both to boost up the weight on their animals in order to maximze their profits. A lot of people these days have a problem with the side effects. These chemicals can cause serious problems not only to our digestive system but to the liver and kidneys as well. I would advise you to avoid the subject of your personal objections about eating meat and try to find the most diplomatic way possible to talk to dad about your decision. See if you can work out a deal whereby you give a go at the meatless thing for a specified period of time and make concessions yourself to take on the responsibility of helping to prepare your own meals. You at least have mom on your side and I'm sure, with her support, it shouldn't have to become a major issue.

Try to appeal to the man side. It will save money. Non meat sources of protein are cheaper than meat. Further, you can be healthier. While I was vegetarian, I dropped 30 pounds. Got to about 11% body fat, ran a marathon, a 136 mile relay race around Oahu, and had more energy than I have ever had before. He can't knock it until he feels how great he feels after eating like that for a week. It's also good for the environment.

How about you show him some of the stuff you have been getting and then tell him that you want to get involved some how and make your part by eating less meat and more veggies try to get them a little involved so they feel that this an important issue for you and then you can start facing out little by little facing out to be a total vegan. Also keep in mind pleas to look for good nutritional information so you can have a healthy diet, because your body still need protein to function and you need to learn how to obtain all the right & balanced nutrients

Just say dad, i want to be a vegetarian, you should learn quick that while you should respect your parents, you also have to learn to make decisions for yourself. Also just because they believe in somthing, doesn't necessarily mean you have too. Don't go at it with an attitude or anything like that. Just sit down with him and be totally honest, tell him about the videos and how that makes you feel. Just tell him you'd prefer to not eat meat. Good luck with that.

Just quit eating meat, He'll get the message or at least start the conversation, your mother knows so she'll quit serving you meat, but don't look for any special dishes, just eat the non meat products on the table.

I would say if this is what you feel that you should do then do it.. its a healthier decision anyway... it is...

You need to investigate it further to make sure that you are getting protein from another source besides meat to keep healthy. Maybe your dad will be proud of you for taking a stand. Good luck.

Just tell him. He might be mad for spending the extra money to get you supplements because you can't eat meats, my dad sure was mad when he had to spend that money. Then I decided who cares we have to tame the animal population somehow. Then I went back to meat.

Don't tell him, just stop eating the meat. If he asks why then tell him. Your Father will love you no matter what you choose in Life, just like your Mother!
