interesting. I'd say that vegetable meat is the safest thing...coconut meat, pineapple meat, you get the idea. Of course, I'm a bit biased because of having been vegetarian my entire life. I'd make friends with all the animals and partake of the plants they eat. Oh, and if the butcher plans on killing the creatures and force feeding them to me, or eat them himself, I'd try to find a canoe or something and row to another part of the world. Killing him would save all the animals but it'd still be murder and my conscience would prick at me. And I can't judge what he eats/doesn't eat, right?

To answer your question more properly though, I don't know if any of the actual meats you mention is actually safe to eat. I've never eaten meat, and I mean, lots of hormones, diseases, etc. may be rampant. not to mention whether you'd actually be able to clean them well, etc etc.

I would eat the seaweed, vegitation and berries on the island, and likely so would you. Suppose there is no butcher, and you have to hunt, catch, capture, slaughter, and butcher the animal using only your wits (after all, if you are stranded, its not likely you have a shotgun, knife, bone crusher, or cooking utensils) Oh, and you have to dispose of the unuseable parts on your own, so you dont get the stench of rotting dead animal contaminating your island. I think its only because there ARE others to do the dirty work, that people eat meat in the first place. Seaweed is delish, full of all the vitamins and minerals needed to sustain a human, as are native fruits and berries. Now, in real life, not stranded=do you have the kahonies to look an animal in the eyes, slit its throat, bleed it out, gut it, butcher it, and dispose of the remains? Ask yourself that question the next time you sit down to a juicy steak or piece of fried chicken....If you answer yes, I would love to get stranded with you...while I bash my raw coconut over a rock, drink its refreshing milk, and eat the healthy "flesh", I will gladly do that while you hunt your prey...oh, and when you give up, I won't share-I have done my homework on whats safe to eat, you have not, it really is about survival of the fittest

I'm not a vegan but I think that you should eat different types of seafood because fish has a lot of protein so you can still be healthy. There's a lot of different types of fish in the sea and you have more variety than just beef, pork, or chicken. It's something different to try that I'm sure you'll like.

1) To stay alive on a desert island, eat whatever you can catch, but stick with the high-water content portion of the animal, i.e. eyeballs and fluids. Don't eat muscle which is too dense. Notice what your domestic cat eats outdoors: it always eats the high-water content portion of the bird, mouse, lizard, etc.

2) Try not to eat anything raised by humans, i.e. animals which are fed hormones, poor food or otherwise kept from acting naturally.

3) Eat any animal at the top of its food chain, if you have the choice.

4) Hopefully, you can exist w/o eating any animal that has a heart!

I'm not vegan - I'm a vegetarian - but I think seafood would be the safest. Granted, all meats have their downfalls as far as toxins, hormones and the animals' reactions to living in a bad environment, but overall, I think seafood - fish in particular- would be the way to go.

I am not a vegan however I am very particular on what foods I eat.

Try sushi! The fish used must be of high quality otherwise it is very apparent that something is foul or not.
