A urinary tract infection (UTI), also called cystitis, is an infection that occurs when bacteria enter the urinary tract and cause tissue damage in the urethra, bladder, and/or kidneys. UTIs are not necessarily sexually transmitted, but the chance of developing a UTI increases dramatically if you are sexually active because of the transfer of bacteria during sex between the vagina, rectum, and urethra.

(shaking head at the ignorance expressed here)
No. What women typically get is Cystitis, a type of urinary tract infection. Cystitis is NOT an STD that can be passed back and forth!
Read. Educate yourself. A quick and easy read about what is and what it is not:

Cranberry juice is an old wives tale. If you want to know why it can't cure a UTI then you'll have to ask! :P It's a whole 'nother topic.

I am not sure about it being sexually transmitted,
but I do know in some UTI cases,
women who have had more than one child vaginally,
are at a higher risk for having them.
It pinches off bits of the bladder due to it being shifted
and moved around from baby,,,,and sometimes,
it sits,,,cuz it can't all come out, that is where you get recurring ones,,and those can be serious,,,,

Sort of. Let's see if I can explain. You can have sex and end up getting bacteria into your urethra, from the friction or whatever. That is why you should pee before AND especially AFTER sex. It forces any bacteria that may have gone up there...out. Also, if you are male and you sleep with a female who has a UTI, and then sleep with another female, there is the possibility that you just passed on the UTI from one female to the other. That is where that peeing after thing helps also. And all I am suggesting is that the possibility is there, that doesn't necessarily mean that it would happen.

Sexuality no I don't think so. Get sulphur drug from you doc. No TEA, sets me off everytime. Drink cranberry juice to help clear it up also. Lots of water of your choice, easy on the pop. Trust me I know, as long as I stay away from TEA mainly, Im ok.

Yea actually it can...Go get yourself checked out. If you have one tell your doctor you have a partner and he/she can give you a pill for you partner as well. Other wise you will just pass it back and forth!!
