Yes, you can get a yeast infection from sexual contact with a woman who has a vaginal yeast infection. The same yeast that causes vaginal infections in women can cause infections of the penis in men. However, just because your girlfriend has a genital yeast infection doesn't mean you'll get one.

Signs and symptoms of a male yeast infection include a red rash, itching or burning at the tip of your penis. Fortunately, most male yeast infections are easily treated with over-the-counter antifungal treatments, such as Monistat.

To treat a male yeast infection, apply the medication directly to the affected skin twice daily for a week. If the rash doesn't go away or if it recurs frequently, consult your doctor. Persistent or recurrent yeast infections can be associated with other medical conditions such as diabetes.

When one partner has a genital yeast infection, it's important for both partners to get treatment. Your girlfriend could infect you, treat her own infection and then get reinfected by having sex with you again. For this reason, it's generally recommended that you refrain from sexual intercourse until all signs and symptoms of the infection are gone.

Yes, he can and probably will catch a yeast infection. By the time that a woman displays a vaginal yeast infection, she actually has a systemic candida infection. A man can be infected with a similar infection. That's why both partners must be treated, and why a couple must use condoms until both of them test clear of infection. If they don't, they infections will continue to be passed back and forth between them. In fact, it's not unusual for men to have yeast spores in their lungs, so a dental dam is a must as well.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

No silly, he won't catch any STD unless she has an STD in addition to her yeast infection.

BUT he can get a yeast infection himself from her yeast infection. (Foreskin or not....) Then he could pass it back to her again once her yeast infection has been cleared up and it just keeps going on and on.

Don't have sex while she has a yeast infection.

He won't get any STDs unless you have one and don't know it. Yeast infections don't cause STDS. They may make you more succeptible though because your vagina is so irritated and if you itch, you may scratch open tissue allowing STDs to get into you easier. I'm not a professional but it makes sense. He can get a yeast infection though from you. He won't suffer any side effects but he will keep giving it back to you. My advice is to abstain from intercourse until you're done with your treatment. Also, a yeast infection isn't a STD.

Sure he can, he can catch the yeast infection although it will be presented different in him. In men the yeast infection can be very subtle you could only feel a strong, sweet like odor coming from your penis and sometimes a white debris under the gland. Everything will depend on the immune status of the man and in his personal hygiene, yeast love warm and wet places.

I disagree with the lady that said that the man could get the yest in his mouth.

To have oral candidiasis you have to be very ill or with a very immature immune system. It would be very rare to have a normal healthy adult with oral candidiasis.

Can I give a yeast infection to my sex partner?

It is possible (though not common) for a sex partner to develop a yeast infection. If you are treating a yeast infection — or think you have one, but haven't started treatment for it — and your partner has penile itching, redness, or discomfort, he should contact his physician. Your partner's physician should know you are treating yourself for a yeast infection (or suspect you have one) so a precise diagnosis can be made.
