You might want to check with Trader Joes or find out if there is a Mexican grocery that specializes in it. Generally, it is made on the spot using vanilla ice cream, cookie crumbs, and home made cinnamon sauce.

You cannot buy it. You can eat it in Mexican restaurants, or make it yourself at home.
What they do is make a ball of frozen ice cream and cover it in a coating, such as a batter. Then they place on a tray and refreeze till very hard. the ice cream is then flash fried very briefly in a deep fat frier till the coating is crisp but the ice cream is still insulated inside and cold. It is delicious and I would highly recommmend it to you, but its easier to eat it out!
i jhave seen frozen versions before but these are not the authentic things , dont look like it and don't taste like it either!
Some people shouldnt answer if they havent a clue1 whats that about?! Anyway good luck and Enjoy!

I don't know about California, but you can have fried ice-cream in Kyrenia North Cyprus, at Ezic Chicken restaurant. It is delicious (too many calories).

you have to fry it yourself or go to a mexican restaraunt that has it. you take a scoop of vanilla ice cream and roll it in cornflakes cereal. and then deepfry it for a second or two. then top it with honey and whipped cream. one of my favorite deserts! YUM

i don't think you can get fried ice cream because when you fry it, it will melt.
