k, this is a really gross story, but check it out. it was the last day of my period, and i usually dont bleed at all, but i put a tampon in, just to be safe. to make a long story short, i ended up getting trashed that night and sleeping with a guy. the next day i had like a really watery discharge and it smelled really bad. well i ended up finding the 2 day old tampon and taking it out.(yuck) i thought that would be the end of it smelling and the end of the discharge, but it wasnt. could i have an std or could it just be bits of the tampon left in me? i know this is nasty, but i really need to know! thanks.

First, let me say that you are very lucky that you didn't end up with toxic shock syndrome. OK, enough of the chastising. You are probably experiencing a bacterial vaginosis from the tampon being left in the vagina for two days. The most common symptoms of a bacterial vaginosis are a strong, fishy odor and a gray or clear, watery discharge. You need to see a doctor for a prescription for metronidazole, which will clear it up quickly.

If the guy you had sex with had an STD, then yes, you could get an STD. Wearing a tampon during sex would have no bearing on contracting an STD in and of itself.

Leaving a tampon in like you did can cause a bacterial infection or toxic shock syndrome. Go to www.toxicshock.com
and read up on it so you can determine if you have symptoms.

It may be a good idea to call your GYN and ask what they advise.

You need to go to a doctor. If you're young and embarrased go to Planned Parenthood. I suggest doing it quickly.

There are quite a number of possibilities. Infection from the tampon being left in. I'll spare the details, but infection from the tampon being left in and the guy not using a condom. Toxic Shock Syndrome. The list goes on.

I hate to be preachy, but... it's not good to get trashed enough that you lose judgement because you can end up pregnant or get an STD because most drunk people won't think to use condoms.

The use of tampons can expose you to

TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME.

Symptoms of TSS occur suddenly. Because it's an illness that is caused by a toxin, many of the body's organ systems are affected. The signs and symptoms of TSS include:

1. high fever (greater than 102° Fahrenheit [38.8° Celsius])
2. rapid drop in blood pressure (with lightheadedness or fainting)
3. sunburn-like rash on the entire body
4. vomiting and diarrhea
5. severe muscle aches or weakness
6. bright red coloring of the eyes, throat, and vagina
7. headache, confusion, disorientation, or seizures
8. kidney and other organ failure

The average time before symptoms appear for TSS is 2 to 3 days after an infection with Staphylococcus or Streptococcus, although this can vary depending on the cause of the infection.

If you get any of these symptoms then you should RUN to your Doc ASAP.

Good luck.

Firstly dont get trashed, it impairs your judgement.
You should see a doctor they may need to take a swab for testing and they can also assess the cervix to see if any remains of tampon are there (which i think would be highly unlikely) Leaving a tampon in even overnight can cause toxic shock syndrome.

yeah its not a good idea to leave them suckers in when having sex. gee girl you must of been trashed. the watery discharge sounds like it would of been just a bit of pee and period soaked into the tampon or is *** or something i dunno. its hard to say. but if your still not smelling to great and if your have a dischard still that is unlike your normal discharge, then i suggest you go to a doctor. its better to be safe then sorry. girls shouldn't smell down there at all, unless something is wrong or the chick is unhygienic. Yuck. its a nasty story, but dint stress to much that kinda stuff happens to alot of chicks...jut not many of us talk about it. best of luck with your stinky punanaY. xo

You really need to get to the doctors as soon as you can, if you haven't got Toxic Shock Syndrome, you sound like you have a nasty infection. Try not to get yourself trashed, look at the results.

you are right how gross. but was he wearing a condom? or did he let his load off in you? if he came in you than it is a possibility that you could have an STD or that his sperm is coming out of your dirty vagina. how the hell do you forget to take out the tampon? how can he even get his penis in there? you really need more experience in life. you also need to go to the DR. to get that nasty thing checked. god people are so dumb.

You can get toxic shock syndrom from leaving a tampon in for more than five hours. You can die from that sh*it, and it takes a while for it to really hit you, you should head to the clinic , pronto.
