Lower than without one, but not 100% protection...probably around 5 - 10% chance of getting an STD

it is well known that condoms do protect against STDs, so don't believe that one dude.

i'm not really sure about your overall chances. it varies by disease. some are easier to catch than others.

even with a candid discussion with your partner about his or her sexual past, there is no way to know often if someone has an STD. usually they h ave no clue, because often they have no symptoms.

i'd just take it as a matter of fact that if you are sexually active that you are exposing yourself to some degree of risk every time you have sex. does that mean join a monestary? probably not. it just means keep your eyes open.

obviously, if you see something suspicious down there that shouldn't be there, don't have sex with the person, condom or not! lol

It's less than not using one, but you're still exposed because you don't know where the fluids land and the condom only covers the actual male part - the scrotum, etc is still exposed and the female parts are still touching those.
