Condoms greatly reduce the risk of HIV, but sometimes a condom can have a very small tear or hole ( like one made from a sewing needle ) and you can conract the disease from fluid that seeps through that hole.

Chances are slim, but if the condom breaks or tears then yes you can. Always use a fresh condom (not stored in a hot car or carried in a pocket for a long time) and check the expiration date on the package. Also, HIV can be contracted through the mouth and eyes, so if you plan on engaging in oral sex, be sure to still use a condom. Flavored condoms are also available.

In the event of a tear then yes but it still greatly reduces the chance of getting infected. Those who claim that HIV can pass through pores in the Latex have been proven to be incorrect as the HIV virus is larger than the biggest pore in the rubber.

"Questions have arisen recently over whether the HIV virus can or cannot pass through pores in latex condoms. European Union (E.U.) research projects provide extensive proof that this is not the case: if properly used, condoms are safe.

Over the last 15 years, the Commission has supported about a dozen research initiatives in this field across Europe, as well as in Asia and Africa, the areas most affected by the AIDS pandemic. E.U. projects focused on condoms' potential porosity and quality standards, and included surveys of infection transmission in couples and prostitutes.

Scientific evidence shows that condoms are the only effective protection against HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS kills more than 3 million people every year, and the fight against this virus relies mostly on protective measures, including condoms."

Yes, a condom is used to help prevent pregnancy and diseases like HIV/AIDS, but there is always the possibility you can get HIV still. The condom only helps, but does not guarantee. The best thing to do is ask your partner to be tested before hand. And if you are sexually active, you should be tested every 6 months.

Yes, because condoms break and people don't use them correctly. If all goes well, the chances of becoming HIV positive while using a condom are slightly higher (but not by much) than becoming pregnant when using a condom.

Yes, because some times we "play" before we put in the condom and men secrete some fluids before erection, (this fluids "clean" the channel from urine and acidity in general), and this fluid is not that much if you compare it with eyaculation, but still is a fluid it might have the virus and you could end with it. Off course the other answers are also right, holes, leaks, wrong positioning might happend too. So my suggestion, do not have sex with people that you don't know or are not willing to get test before intercourse (that was my request to my husband when I started dating him and he did it, because he was concern for himself), if that is not a choice, do not let his pennis to touch you down there without a condom, and using double condom is always good just it case. Hope it helps. Good luck!

ok, lots of the answers you have recieved so far are good.. like it reduces the risks, but playing before is still dangerous.. But you have recieved some bad answers too.. First off, DO NOT USE TWO CONDOMS at once. The friction between the 2 condoms rubs small holes in the surface and semen will slip through. Its safer to use one than two.

Yes yu can.....The accuracy of condoms is on a percentage of only 88%...that means that 22% percent can cause std's like HIV,aids, herpies and much more......Try to find a way to get your partner tested..If you already know the answer take precautions such as "doubling-up",using a high qualtiy condom, maybe a vaginal birth control ring.......Go to www.WebMD.com for more info..kay
