Vitamin K is the antidote for warfarin also known as coumadin. So, you would not want to eat foods containing vit K. I really don't know a whole lot of them off hand. I think if you did a search on the internet, you should be able to find a list of them.

many green vegetables affect warfarin. You can eat any of the foods on the list (you should have been given a list when you got the prescription filled) but you should not increase how much of those foods you eat. Lettuce is on the list. If you ate salad once a day before going on warfarin, you should not increase to two times a day after going on it..

Like everyone has said, stay away from the leafy greens. The vitmain k will counter act with the warfarin and make it lesss effective. Also you should stay away from from anything with grapefruit or grapefruit juice in it. Thats it to my knowledge. lots of medicines will cause reactions, talk with your pharmacist.

Anything with too much Vitamin K, because it interferes with blood clotting.
Foods rich in vitamin K to **limit** include: asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, spinach, brussel sprouts, chick peas/garbanzo beans (hummus), soybeans (tofu, soymilk), lentils (dried peas and beans), dark green, leafy vegetables, green lettuce (romaine, bib and red leaf), collard, mustard, turnip and beets, green tea (tea in Chinese restaurants), parsley (tabbouleh).
Foods with excessive vitamin K to ** AVOID** include: large amounts of onions (greater than ¼ cup), avocado (guacamole), egg yolks (not more than four per week), liver, seaweed (sushi or algae).
Also limit alcohol, because it affects how the liver metabolizes the medication.
