"Steel Magnolias". Southern women have always been depicted as the flowers of the south and tough as nails. The ladies club for your company most likely has some very good candidates for these qualities! Create an elegant table setting by using linens and china, flower centerpieces and candles. Have place cards with each woman's name and something about her individual strengths, for example:
Mary Jane Hibbet,
good friend, creative culinary expert, counselor to husband and children, and gardner extroidinaire!
You get the idea. Often "ladies clubs" are designed to support husbands that are the shakers and the movers of a large company. In actuallity, they are the "wind beneath the wings" of these fellows and it is their tenacity that helps him get ahead. They should be honored for their generous spirits and grace under fire!

How about theming it on Royal Ascot- Ladies Day?
Its all about the hats and looking good, with a bit of royalty thrown in.
There could be an after dinner race to watch, there are companies that provide horse races for events on a TV that you can bet on.

How about a "Remember when"theme?Have the ladies bring their favorite collectible and tell a little about it.Just have tables set up for them to place the items. As you raise the item up ask the owner to stand and tell the story behind it.We had this theme at our Ladies Tea and it was so much fun.Hope this helps.

SHOES!
Theme might be: "Put your best foot forward"
Can have shoes with flower arangements as table decorations. Can speak on the various shoes, that a person wears/uses in life, booties, sneakers, high heels, orthopedics.... Find poems/songs about shoes or feet. Walk a mile in someones shoes. Happy Feet. Old Woman who lived in a shoe. One, two, buckle my shoe. Cinderella's glass slipper. Shoebox greetings. Uses for a shoebox, shoebox treasures. Could give out prizes for different types of shoes, highest heel, most # of shoes, ??? Shoemaker and the elves. Grandmothers old shoes, button hook, shoe memories. Shoe "trees". Shoe trivia/jokes, What part of the shoe goes to heaven? (sole/soul). How high were the highest high heels ever...Just what is the name of the little thingy on the end of shoelaces...
"Strut your stuff" =Shoe style/history timeline fashion show.
Could have a new shoe drive and donate the shoes to a shelter or charity group.
A few thoughts anyway!

How about Fancy Hat(everyone wears hat of their choice), invitations or announcements are hat shaped.
Or Ladies Tea Party-everyone dresses up in nice dresses(doesn't have to be formal wear), just nice Spring/Summer dresses or pantsuits and even though dinner is being served, have a variety of teas available and serve Petit Fours as deserts.
How about Ladies Social?
Tie it in with a local fund raiser?

How about "How Does Your Garden Grow?" or something related to gardening?
Decorate each table w/ potted plants, gardening gloves, trowels, claw hook trowels, seed packets, etc.
You can stick seed packets on a tongue depressor and stick that into a small clay pot w/ plaster of paris (topped w/ moss) and use as place cards... just write their names on the seed packet, or use a sticker/label.
Other decor items could be bird feeders, topiaries, yard art on stakes or poles, etc.
You could also assign each person a number... put on their name tag as they come in.. Label table decor items underneath w/ numbers, and at the end of the luncheon, give away items. It woudl be nice if each person left w/ a pair of gloves, a trowel, or a 3-pack of seeds.

Rather than a dinner, how about a tea. Lots of varieties of tea, hot and cold, and lovely tea sandwiches, sweets and savories. If there is a budget for catering, see if a local tea room would do it.

I think that the secret is not to go too far out, you don't want the ladies to have to go to too much expense and trouble, what most people have handy is something hawaiian, and if not it is cheap and easy to get something that will fit.
