My mom has constant chest pain all day long, it really hurts when she sneezes & coughs, and she can't walk for more than 10 mins - she gets really dizzy and weak. She's not a smoker and doesn't drink. It started 2 weeks ago, and was rushed to the hospital. They did the EKG thing and immediately scheduled her for a stress test which actually came out normal. They gave her some pills for Vertigo but she gets really tired afterwards and doesn't want to take them because she ends up sleeping in and is late for work. They finally did some blood work on Fri. but still hasn't gotten back to her.

So since her Dr.'s are kind of slow, I would like to know if anyone has/had a similar problem and if there's anything extra we should have her Dr's test her for instead of waiting every week to do another test, and if there's anything over the counter you'd suggest to help relieve the pain (she's tried aspirin which didn't help).

Thanks soooooo much in advance!!!!

Maybe a pulmonary function test. That basically checks to make sure her lungs are working correctly. Check her blood levels. If she doesn't have enough red blood cells, no matter how well her heart pumps and how well her lungs work, her body won't be getting enough oxygen. If the levels are off they will probably suggest having her scoped (endoscopy and/or colonoscopy) to see if she has a GI bleed somewhere. A hiatal hernia can cause chest pain very similar to heart pain. It is basically when part of the stomach protrudes up through an enlarged opening in the diaphragm. Because of the pressure it can cause chest pain and difficulty breathing. That can also be diagnosed with an endoscopy. Gall bladder problems can also mimic chest pain but I have not really seen people have problems with their breathing but it can be very painful. Also, even though her EKG and stress test were normal, a cardiac cath may still find blockages in her arteries. This is basically running a catheter into an artery in the groin and looking for blockages.
Hope that helps and I hope your mom feels better soon.

First don't be worried,,it's not appear to be an Ischemic Heart disease ,, i mean it's not the pattern of pain caused by this kind of disease..
It may be : Pleural disease ( pleurisy ) and pleura is a something like a membrane surrounding the lung...and it may be a lung disease...another diagnosis, it may be myositis ( inflammation in the chest muscles ) ,,,
sorry if it appears so confusing but we should only give provisional diagnosis and the final diagnosis is for investigation,,,
Again,,calm down , and let us now when she 's better..

She could have walking pneumonia. It makes you feel like that. She really should be staying home but I realize she probably needs to work. It isn't that the doc is slow it just takes time to get test results. As far as medicine she shouldn't take anything over the counter until she knows what the tests say. Try to be patient until they come in.

Your mom should seek a second opinion, pronto. It could be anything. But if she's coughing and sneezing, she may have acute broncitis or pneumonia. She sounds like she is really sick. Stress to her the importance of her medical treatment by another doctor. Good Luck

The first thing she needs to do is call the doc tomorrow and find out what the results of those blood tests were. If the DOC DOESN"T CALL YOU then you need to call HIM. She should also report aht she is feeling NO BETTER and ask him what is plans to do for her. If he has no plan then tell her to ask for a referral to someone who CAN help her.
